I really appreciate the inclusion of Glenn's own annotated copy of 3CW. The first object I would have stolen from the Archives.❤ (just kidding!) 😁

I have been a Gould fan for 30 years, but I have never seen this footage. It almost looks like it's in high def. Thanks for posting. BTW, I'm intrigued by your nom de plum. Hmmm... I'm guessing your 'real name' is Hazel and you are also from the American South? I guess I'll never know. (Hurricane Hazel decimated my husband's family in North Carolina, by the way. But, I won't hold that against you.) :)

It's a Gould reference actually. Hurricane Hazel hit Toronto when he was going to perform a concert- I think maybe 6 people showed.

@@hurricane_hazel Ah, yes, of course. I see that Hazel was still a powerful Category 1 by the time it reached Toronto. I suppose Gould wasn't too famous the year before the Goldbergs came out, but 11 inches of rain would deter anyone. Also, I want to thank you for your GG videos. I'm making my way through some more of them now. Thanks again.

The piece of music at the beginning of Gould's broadcast is from a record called 'Japanese National Music Series - festival music'. A Crown LP (SW5016) side B, band 2 - Matsuri Bayashi suite, arranged by T Wakayama "bamboo flute solo with accompaniment of chime" Hope this helps anyone trying to identify it.

This is ...marvelous. Somehow both soothing and stimulating at the same time. His tone is just perfect for the reading. AND it's so hard to separate Soseki's words from the person of Gould. I think Gould really found his center in this work. So lovely.

Gould was no longer with us when the statue was created, yet I find it quite moving... and it was a pleasure to "meet" in person. I love the choice of the bench instead of at a piano, it recognizes, somehow, the solitary, yet inviting, aspect of Gould and his art.
