I had the privilege of being Noel's postman in Ashburton, Devon for the last few years of his life. A true gentleman.

I was a small child when I heard this and I’ve played it throughout my life I’m in my 60’s now and will carry on playing it until I can’t. Always found the lyrics to be so deep RIP NOEL

This is my favorite music video on KZbin. Both Kathy Lennon and Noel Harrison are such lovely, moral people with beautiful voices. They seem to genuinely like each other though I think they never met until this video.

Noel Harrison was my neighbor. I used to call the police on him because he would watch dirty movies with the volume turned up and the window down. I actually moved to get away from him and I ended up living next to some old man that had a dog that never stopped yelping. I just can’t win.

I have always loved this song since a child, I have various memories attached to it, from when my father sang it to be as a baby, from when I suffered from depression even up to my latest relationship with my partner, every time though I have been able to think the words fitted what I was feeling x

A bit too fast , but the great Michel Legrand was the boss, and decided like that.. as the master he was, and one more masterpiece from him. Wonderfull singer. Of course.

Round, like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel. Never ending or beginning, On an ever spinning wheel Like a snowball down a mountain Or a carnaval balloon Like a carousell that′s turning Running rings around the moon Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes on it's face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind Like a tunnel that you follow To a tunnel of it′s own Down a hollow to a cavern Where the sun has never shone Like a door that keeps revolving In a half forgotten dream Or the ripples from a pebble Someone tosses in a stream. Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes on it's face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind Keys that jingle in your pocket Words that jangle your head Why did summer go so quickly Was it something that I said Lovers walking allong the shore, Leave their footprints in the sand Was the sound of distant drumming Just the fingers of your hand Pictures hanging in a hallway And a fragment of this song Half remembered names and faces But to whom do they belong When you knew that it was over Were you suddenly aware That the autumn leaves were turning To the color of her hair Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning, On an ever spinning wheel As the images unwind Like the circle that you find In the windmills of your mind Pictures hanging in a hallway And the fragment of this song Half remembered names and faces But to whom do they belong When you knew that it was over Were you suddenly aware That the autumn leaves were turning To the color of her hair Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning, On an ever spinning wheel As the images unwind Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind

I love this song, the melody, the lyrics. "Keys that jingle in your pocket, words that jangle in your head". This December of 2024 I'm reminded of another December years ago now, nine years ago to be precise, when a group proudly wrote on their Facebook with great excitement that "the costumes for Gone with the Wind had finally come in". And that they did. The keys jingle and the words jangle, but the meaning was clear. Eighteen months later, I was going backward on their timelines and saw what a production it was, how many were involved and the years of planning that it took. In the early years, 2012 and 2013, much happened to get the show underway. To paraphrase Steve Jobs, at the time it's difficult to put all the dots together, only in looking back can you see the big picture, the way that "social media" accounts can be used to communicate between individuals and groups using images, lyrics, substitute words, and fictitious names. As the players took their parts and put together and managed the group's' activities one wrote, as if they didn't know me and I them, that if a woman contacted the others looking for them or information about them, to ignore it, that the woman was a stalker, and no information shared nor any or contact had. Contemporaneously, a realtor was welcomed aboard who just happened to sit on the board of a local bank, one that was acquired by another during the course of things, moving the shoot much closer to home. The instructions were clear, "It doesn't matter who gets it, it has to go". In January of 2016 an acquaintance insisted that I see The Hateful 8 roadshow. I obliged. They said that roadshows were special and to get the program, the question of the validity of the note to freedom, and the enemy hiding below the floorboards. I got the plot and program and clocked thousands of miles doing so. I learned a lot about many things and people. In the early fall of that year, a proprietor shared with me that there was a wealthy man who came to his establishment. A short time after, I asked what ever happened to the guy, and he said, "He gave the banker a ring" surely meant to be taken by me as an engagement, but a double entendre, an engagement, but not for marriage, and a ring not the type that you wear on your hand, but a simple telephone call. Surely within weeks, the banker was exhibited with flair. The words don't jangle anymore, and the keys are long gone.

The original of this song is much better in piano, or Sting's version. This is way too fast, and killed the melody.

This in, my humble opinion is still the best version. Considering some of the greatest singers of the 60's/70's have covered this song. I would love to hear Sade Adu do a version of this song. I think she would knock it out of the park.
