Awful instruction video. Needs to be closer. 3/4 of the frame is your table. Your hands are also mostly in the way. Tedious.

I really like your approach to finish up the ends your so right about find things to help of the right sizes it's a real pain sometimes it can be done and as I have taken my journey with this craft it's not the only way to finish it but one of the best when it comes to pokey things it will cover them up quit nicely and looks Kool

Historically, they would either use leather or they would actually take a wood chip and jam it in the gap. I wonder what would happen if you wrapped a wood chip in leather, epoxied that together, then cover the leather in epoxy and place in the hilt (as you did) I feel like that would be a little overkill, but would forever ensure a tight fit.

This worked like a charm. I've got a fixed blade hunting knife with a loose guard where they've peened the end cap on. It's all nice and tight, except the guard. Skived off a couple thin pieces of leather and stuffed them in with a tiny flat head screwdriver, it was perfect. The leather could be compressed from side to side to fit it's counterpart, trimmed flush, and then and any excess was stuffed in to really wedge it in there. That fixed it completely, thanks.

Hello Thorbjorn! I’m an old gal immigrated from Denmark when I was a child. This was always a favorite dish in our danish home (#2 was the delectable frikadeller!). My mother is 91 and she says onions vs no onions in this dish is often dependent on different locales in the country. She never used onions, perhaps because it was food for children. I also noticed you do not put sugar into the dish like I’ve seen in other variations. Is that because you use onions and red apples instead of green apples? I’ve made this dish with green apples and I feel it can often be too tart even with sugar added. This time I’m going to use red apples and onions like you do here! Wish me luck! It’s an easy dish so I shouldn’t need luck but I’ve had trouble with this dish turning out soggy and overly fatty, trying to perfect that bit! Thanks for posting this taste from home! 🇩🇰

Thanks for the tutorial and recipe. I used a pan, rather than a skillet, which led me lose a lot of the bacon grease and scorch the pan a bit. Then, inorder to deglaze the pan, I poured in a little bit of apple cider. After adding the apples and onions I left it cook until they were well cooked and then I gave it a good grind of black pepper. Perhaps due to the cider that I had added it was a bit to liquidy, so I threw in a can of cream of chicken soup. It was delicious and I know that I will be perfecting this recipe going forward.

I've a question. In the Western and military reenactor community( particularly the Civil War), we use the terms farb and farbism to descibe reenactorisms. The Civil War community is quite serious and take historical accuracy seriously. Farbs are seriously mocked. If you wear sunglasses, you will get at least one syphilis joke. Does the medieval reenacting community have a similar term?
@charlesvitanza8325
@charlesvitanza8325 5 ай бұрын
You're absolutely right about the civil war! I recently started and haven't even put together my full kit yet! I hear about my glasses all the time because that is the only real farbism that I have. I usually shut it down quick by saying "I'm new, where can I get appropriate frames?" It's usually someone who doesn't need them so they just get that dumbfounded look.

I know I'm late, but I'd rather use a whetstone because of the metal & I have the same issue with mine, just get a coarse stone like 600 depending how bad it is.

Kultofathena rocks! Edit: I purchased a butted mail haubergeon- I think the exact same one as you are wearing from kultofathena. High tensile steel wire and inner diameter of 8 mm. Although I was already aware of the risks of butted vs riveted (butted is easily pierced compared to riveted), I think it will serve its purpose as a training piece. Weighs about 25 lbs. right? Good for practicing footwork in and getting a feel for mail as well as learning to care for mail...but yeah not something you'd want for ACTUAL defense. In your opinion though, what is better, flat riveted or round riveted mail? Edit 2: I guess mine isn't the same. Mine is GDFB rather than Lord of Battles but big difference huh? LOL.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but would one not risk concussions without a padded arming cap underneath? Something needs to absorb the shock of a heavy blow to the head... I ordered my nasal spangenhelm purposely large in order to accomodate such padding. Great video though and I feel you about wearing heavy stuff in the summer. Greetings from hot, sunny Arizona!

Back in the day my grandma said that her mom would sew up holy clothes , plush toys, and she will sew buttons back on. Back in the day it was normal to fix things yourself to save money. She taught my mom how to sew when she was younger and my mom would fix me and my sisters clothes and toys growing up. My mother died before she can even teach me how to sew so I'm happy I have the internet, I'm currently learning from watching videos and stuff so I can do the same with my son, even though he's currently 6 months old I'm hoping by the time he is old enough to get holes in his clothes or rip a hole in one of his toys I can fix them for him.

Not Veg tanned or brain tanned. An older method than those was urine tan. It was wide spread in groups that lived in northern areas because of the speed of tanning. If you have ever seen a drawing or picture of an ancient Indian encampment they often had the babies laid on the hides. concentrated urine tans faster and deeper. During the early American period particular the civil war time the loneliest job in town was a tanner. Main ingredient was dog dung and nobody wanted to be around the smell.
