I made one almost identical but bought a second separator ring using a larger plastic/vinyl 45 gal drum with a snap ring around the top. How deep does the vacuum pipe go down into the cyclone? Do you get much dust in your filter? I get about the same amount of debris in my bag as well. I’m going to cut a second thein baffle for my filter separator to try and keep the fine dust down in the bag. I’d like to talk to you in the phone. Are you in N America?

In this video, I do not see an essential, absolutely-airtight, flexible, compressible, conformable gasket between the rim of the steel can and the wood on top of it. Optimum dust separation cannot occur unless there is zero air leakage at this joint under all conditions. Any air leakage at this joint will also reduce the suction of the system.

Why do you need a spacer? Why not make the jig 3/4" thick? I know there is an easy answer to this that I am simply overlooking.

Hi Gary, good video, thank you. I made a Thien baffle separator recently. I thought it might not work because I used some offcuts of OSB for the discs and an old plastic sign for the curved sidewall. Also for strength the slot is set in from the sidewall about an inch and is in three sections, so three shorter slots rather than one long one. I needn't have worried, the thing is amazing! Almost 100% of the dust ends up in the drum below the separator and a very small amount of extremely fine dust reaches the shop vac filter which used to get heavily clogged. Just why it's so effective I don't know. I wondered whether the rough surface of the OSB helps in some way, though I thought as you did that smooth surfaces would be better. It would be very interesting to conduct some experiments

I tried the Scrollnado. It worked OK. It needs a vacuum which can cause noise in the shop. I am told the Scrollnado is available on Amazon.

I really like the accessory tray with the trash can. Thanks for sharing. Also, only putting casters on the rear. My DW788 is three wheel drive.
@timberworks3 жыл бұрын
The 2 casters allow the saw to sit. One thing I did that I did not mention is the casters are mounted to wood that is set at an angle to the saw. That way when I roll the saw over a crack in the floor it is a little bit more stable.

Gary - I was SOOOOO hoping you'd show what you've done to the HEGNER and RBI that you have sitting there. Please show those, too, one day. There are great ideas here. I see a couple I'm going to do - as - I have some of them already. I'm using a Ridgid, RBI 220VS and a Pegas.
