Amazing work as always! Please I am having big problems with cleaning my 2in brush while in the middle of the painting sessions. Where I live I can't have the official Bob Ross Oderless Thinner so I am getting other types, but I never seem to be able to get it fully cleaned and I'm spending most of the time just drying it with paper towel and it's never at 100% clean. Can you advise on a good alternative for the thinner? Thank you!
@kvapainting4 күн бұрын
I plan on doing a video about my brush cleaning process using baby oil. I will try to get that posted soon. With that said, the 2" brush is the hardest brush to clean. What kind of thinner are you using? If you are able to have two brushes available, one for light and one for dark, that is really helpful. I would recommend wiping out as much paint as possible before cleaning. Are you using a brush screen?

Is the liquid white still wet when you start painting or is it dry? I am fairly new to oil painting and would like to see a video on using baby oil as opposed to paint thinner.

It is true; the most endearing form of acknowledging someone is through imitation. Bob Ross set a pattern and although you are similar, you do have your own flavour! Keep it going. It honours Bob, you and the painting world....

Made Bob Ross proud my man! Good work! I am getting my paint kit tomorrow (finally) and will start painting. Any advice for a first timer? What sort of issues I might run into?
@kvapainting24 күн бұрын
Thank you! The paint kit is a great start. Here are a few tips: 1) Less is more - When I started I tried to fix everything in my paintings....it eventually led to me creating mud, which was not the look I desired. The more you practice, the better your technique will get. 2) Work on foundational skills - Practice the foundational skills such as trees, mountains, bushes, clouds, etc. The individual element mastery will lead to more confidence when doing full paintings. I will be starting a beginner basic series soon, where I will be breaking down the more common elements in a painting. Each video will be focused on one or two elements only. I'm in the process of filming and hope to have the first few videos edited / posted by next week sometime. Part One: Evergreen Trees Part Two: Mountain Part Three: Evergreen Trees and Mountain Basic Painting (combining part 1 and 2 into a basic painting) ...more parts to come! Please reach out if you have more questions.

How hard would it be to paint something like this without Bob Ross' kit? My worry is also about cleaning up the brushes, is there any way to clean them up without making a mess? I love your painting, especially the northern lights, beautiful!
@kvapainting26 күн бұрын
Thank you! If you are using oil paints, as long as you have a thin oil on the canvas, the paint can slide. Additionally, different brands of oil paint may vary in thickness, but you could probably make it work. As far as cleaning the brushes, I have adjusted my process over the years. Early on I used odorless thinner, a bucket and screen, and a garbage can with a brush rack. As Bob did on TV, I would run the brush through the bucket and screen, and beat off the excess in the garbage can. I no longer use paint thinner due to health concerns. While a little more costly, I have multiples of each brush and clean them with baby oil. I put the baby oil in the Bob Ross bucket and screen and clean my brushes just like I used to with the thinner. However, baby oil doesn't dry, so I use a lot of paper towels to remove as much of the oil as possible before going back into any paint. If possible, I will paint an entire painting without having to clean any brushes until the very end. I've never had an issue with baby oil and my oil paintings not drying. I will likely do a video on how I clean my brushes.

it's so pretty, I have a question , those are oil painting , doesn't the white color mix with black when you paint snow on mountain?? Also can I use plastic palette knife instead of stainless??
@kvapaintingАй бұрын
@Asuna-de1yg Thank you! Yes, the white color would eventually mix with the mountain mixture. It is important to scrape away the excess paint so the highlights will stick better. A plastic palette knife should work fine.
