If you're stuck at 2:25 because you can't get the same options when right-clicking on the "Bevel Controller" node, try double-clicking instead.

What's the difference between the SDF Smooth layer vs the Reshape layer?

Smooth is the name suggests, it smooths the mesh. With the reshape layer yoy can do multiple things, like adding displacement like details with a shader effector

Hi Niels, great tutorial, thanks so much for posting. I have a quick question. In the Volume Builder when I go to apply "smooth layer" or "reshape layer" I can only see an option for "fog smooth". How can I activate/toggle on the options for smooth layer and reshape layer? If anyone else can help me out, it would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Hi Niels! for some reason when I'm trying to render it out it renders only "drops" that are floating in the air but there are no paths from tracing. Any suggestions?

For those following behind and having issues. Here are the fixes that usually do the trick. There seems to be an issue with the compare node/PMatterwaves node combination. With these two in the mix only 1 particle is generated on each of frame 0 and 1 (and sometimes 2 depending on C4D version and if you keep setting the compare test to higher frame numbers). So when the compare turns off the Pmatter wave emitter after frame 0, only one particle has been emitted. Unplug the bottom nodes the Ppass is attached to and set the compare to higher and higher frames numbers in test steps of one and determine which frame the bulk finally get emitted and set the compare node to == that frame (or just set it == to something like frame 5 or frame 10). Plug all the nodes back in that with attached to the Ppass. On some systems the pmatter node still generates a particle on frame zero, another on frame 1 and then the bulk of them on whatever frame you have set above. This leads to the next problem. Those extra early particles can show in the tracer and will come from the center leaving a line from the surface to the center. To fix: In the thinking particle settings add another group - we'll call it group1. Add a Pgroup from the TPStandard list of nodes. Plug the compare node output into a Pgroup node "On" port. Set this Pgroup node to group 1 and feed the output of the Pmatter waves (the particle birth port) into the particle port on the pGroup node The stray 2 or 3 particles emitted at the start will end up in the All group but the bulk will end up in Group 1. Now set the tracer to group1 instead of All. This will catch only the particles that get emitted on the bulk frame. Final fix is to set the Collision tag to Automatic instead of the default static mesh. Remember you must rewind to zero and hit play again for the sim to work correctly.

@leon doering - I found a solution to the particles not moving as you describe. Go to the Dynamics Body Tag, to the Collision tab, and change the "Shape" for collisions to "Automatic." All other setting will not allow the particles to move (they just wiggle a little...)
