27:30 - I find this ridiculous. It should have been: "You are here/there because the judge decided so. No more, no less. Because you either broke the law or have been assumed to have done so... There is no jesus about it. It is what it is." Please don't brainwash the prisoners into being prisoners of faith. The message should be clearer and without any bs sprinkled over it. Like a psychological explanation of cPTSD combined with other factors that have been concluded to being the reason for it during the "self-improvement" journey while in prison. If its personality disorder, psychological disorder or just unfortunate turnout of events? *What happened to "truth will set you free" ??* EDIT: Best of luck on obtaining your funding, because if it is working then it is hard to argue otherwise...

"Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future.” ~ Maria Montessori “It’s not just hunger of the body, it’s the hunger of the soul.” ~ Audrey Hepburn. My mother "believed a child is not just entitled to a full belly and good education. They were also entitled to love and affection." ~ Sean Hepburn Ferrer, son of Audrey Hepburn "It is an absolute human certainty that no one can know his own beauty or perceive a sense of his own worth, until it has been reflected back to him in the mirror of another loving caring human-being." ~ John Joseph Powell "The truth is, you cannot love yourself unless you have been loved and are loved." ~ Dr. Bruce Perry "When infants aren't held, they can become sick, even die. It's universally accepted that children need love, but at what age are people supposed to stop needing it? We never do. We need love in order to live happily, as much as we need oxygen in order to live at all." ~ Marianne Williamson "Hold tenderly... chime lovingly... children all before, and all to come." ~ Paul Jung "Once I knew only darkness and stillness... my life was without past or future... but a little word from the fingers of another fell into my hand that clutched at emptiness, and my heart leaped to the rapture of living." ~ Helen Keller "Whether in your child, or those of another -- deliver angels... unfold their wings." ~ Paul Jung

"Compassion isn't just about feeling the pain of others; it's about bringing them in toward yourself. If we love what God loves, then, in compassion, margins get erased. 'Be compassionate as God is compassionate,' means the dismantling of barriers that exclude." ~ Gregory Boyle "Until we learn to love others as ourselves, it's difficult to blame broken people who desperately try to affirm themselves when no one else will." ~ Richard Rohr "No man should judge unless he asks himself in absolute honesty whether in a similar situation he might not have done the same." ~ Viktor Frankl "Don’t be surprised that our bodies react to criticism, rejection and social shaming the same way they do to physical threats." ~ Louis Cozolino "Judging others makes us blind, whereas love is illuminating. By judging others we blind ourselves to our own evil and to the grace which others are just as entitled to as we are." ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer "If you look down on someone, he or she won't want to get up." "Sow ability, not disability." "When you see someone as yourself, you’ll know how to be... with them, as them, for them." ~ Paul Jung "We do know that no one gets wise enough to really understand the heart of another, though it is the task of our life to try." ~ Louise Erdrich "Our afflictions, and addictions -- are as wicked, or wise -- as our understanding of them." ~ Paul Jung "People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone." ~ Audrey Hepburn

This wise man has no idea how much his lectures, books, podcasts, teachings have mentored my professional development as a future therapist (LMFT/LPCC). Actually, he is my mentor, but he doesn't know it! In México's Indigenous (Nahuatl - Aztec mother tongue) tribe, he would be referred to as a Tlamatini (A wise man)! Dr. Mate, thank you for touching the hearts and minds with your wisdom.

Thank you for this. Fritzi Horstman shows us every day that we, each and every one of us, is a conduit for healing and love. We are the healing the world needs; we are that in every moment. Thank you and bless you for all you do, Fritzi and Compassion Prison Project. We're all just walking each other home. Thank you, Fritzi, for helping walk so many people home.
