Thank you for this informative video! Do you think I could convert existing roman shades(bottom up) to top down bottom up? Wondering if it's possible to use the fabric I have and just get the new hardware? Thank you!
@RandomBatHome
@RandomBatHome 11 күн бұрын
I think it depends how the shade is attached at the top, like would it be easy to cut the fabric away and not have the valance part look bad? Otherwise I think it would be doable, but creating the top edge of the shade will be a pain and you might need to hand sew it since the lift cords are already installed. Good luck!

the green lace only goes on the top? is the pico elastic necessary
@RandomBatHome
@RandomBatHome 11 күн бұрын
I only used the green lace on the top, but you could use it where the picot is as well. I think having some type of elastic along the leg area is important!

I just spend a full hour just doing the math to work out how my yarn I need to buy to make a jumper out of a crochet lace work flower motif who design I’m borrowing from a bag pattern (hence why so much maths was required on my part). By my estimation I will need about 300 flower to make a top with sleeves and each flower takes me about a hour (I’m not the fastest crocheter), therefore just the crocheting will take ~300hr without the yarn calculations or diy pattern making. Hand craft is never fast.

That is so detailed. Gorgeous work. Also, the only way I can imagine people can upload so much content is by making different projects at the same time. Maybe a main project that will take longer and then shorter projects along the way. I remember this one content creator that was making a lavender town pokemon witch cosplay (crazy stuff!) and it took months. I'd see updates on KZbin shorts like once a month and I'd go "yay, it's coming along nicely!" and then, sadly, forget about about it. But it'd be nice whenever I saw it again. I think it's finished by now, I don't remember. But yeah, I think a long project and small projects along the way may help with the flow of content creation
@RandomBatHome

Just a heads up, take up is not the same thing as shrinkage. Take up is the amount of length loss to the action of going over and under threads the deflection from the straight and to end path. Shrinkage is the washing size decrease. Some of that is also just the absence of tension. Some people consider that shrinkage some people think consider that take up. Even for cotton, which has limited stretch, as soon as it’s off of tension, it will be smaller. I personally include that in take up, but I also often lump together take up, lack of tension, and shrinkage to a joint slightly higher percentage. The actual number depends entirely on the materials.
