The heart and the artistic genius of man share a common language: the harmony of sound and music. It's a legacy from the dawn of time that will live on into eternity Yé Lassina Coulibaly❤❤❤
I found it on VK, a Russian social media platform. I think it's a recording from 2005, among others with the project Köshkün Xögzhüm

Sounded amazing but, ayo what was that about a child bride? Crazy.
@bartneusaap2 ай бұрын
No it’s not about that, the word translated here literally means the youngest (of a family) but it also means beloved. “Which daughter will he choose (as a bride)” might be a better translation. It’s an analogy of the fate of choice where one ends up. Just like the crane chooses where to spend the night, a person can choose who to spend his life with.

Bart - any idea when Tuva Ensemble made this video? Thanks for uploading. Love this take on ediskileer anchy-la men.

Judging by the line up and outfits I think this was made around 2017 or 2018

@@bartneusaap brilliant..knew I could count on you Bart. Thanks for preserving all of this fantastic khöömei. Any clue what the horn in the beginning is? I asked a friend in Kyzyl, but we are unsure. I don't think it's an амырга like I thought, not long/narrow enough?
@bartneusaap3 ай бұрын
@@arkaneskyMost amyrgas are indeed longer and made from wood, but their sizes do vary a lot I think. There was a Tuvan Etsy shop from the Tuvan Cultural Centre before the war in Ukraine which sold a horn like this. There it was called ediski, but as far as I understand the ediski is a small piece of birch bark you can place in your mouth to use during hunting similar to an amyrga. Anyways, without complete certainty I would say this is an amyrga made from a bull (or yak?) horn. But it could definitely be called an ediski just as well. It’s for sure a hunting horn used to lure animals
@arkanesky3 ай бұрын
@@bartneusaap Oh, man! I didn't know about the etsy shop, I hope they can re-open sometime. I've ordered a couple instruments from Ayas Irgit in the past year to enjoy at home, especially igil. I think you're on to something - given the namesake of this song but the actual horn being played in the video, maybe "ediski" more generally just means lure/decoy and one form it takes is the birch bark. Kind of like khoomei is its own thing, but also is a blanket term for sygyt/kargyraa/etc. Thanks again, my friend!

hey, beautiful instrument, did u make it by yourself? As an igil player I had to say: the gap between the neck and the strings are wrong, igil's string tension is much lower compare to morin huur, u should reduce some height of both upper and lower saddle and it would become more like an igil~
@bartneusaap4 ай бұрын
Yes I made it myself, thanks. I know the gap is too big, that was a mistake I made when I was in the early stage of building. But it actually isn't the bridge and tension that is too high, the neck isn't straight and is positioned a bit backwards. However it is still playable and when I make another I will definitely improve that.

Very nice. How long have you been throat singing for? How do you mange to play fretless? Is it easy for you?
@bartneusaap4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I’ve been practicing for about four years. Playing fretless becomes easier the more you do it. I also have little pencil markings on the strings to know where the most important notes are

@@bartneusaap Sounds really nice :) I wanted to buy a doshpuluur at first but then got frighten by the common fretless board and decided upom a tovshuur instead. I hope i can throat sing like you one day. Do you have any particular warm up practice before singing?
@bartneusaap4 ай бұрын
@@lancelot5192 Thanks. Fretted doshpuluurs also exist if you didn't know. I don't really have a warm up, I think it's really important to keep the practise regular though. Every day if possible.
