Do you need a oil cooler kit for the 500 hp z1 supercharger kit ?
@johnnyk41124 күн бұрын
How did you get the belt on? Lol I’m having trouble 😭
@Niishmo4 күн бұрын
If you’re referring to the small supercharger belt, the easiest way that I found is to remove the tensioner pulley and then put the belt over the 2 pulleys. Then apply some pressure to the middle of the belt while you try to thread in the tensioner pulley slowly. It took me a few tries but eventually I got it.
@johnnyk41124 күн бұрын
@@Niishmoit’s the main belt that goes over the oem ones as well. What part number did they give you for the belt? I got the 90mm but the part number on their site and the one I got was completely different.

Hey man, hey man great video summarising the setup. I was curious how you went with the 550 horsepower kit but are running some of the lesser options. Did you notice your temps change much at all? Since adding it on? I was really keen for E85 mainly due to the engine running cooler. More so than the extra power. I was going to go to the 500 kit and hold off for E85 down the track. What made you go the smaller pulley for your '91 setup?
@Niishmo14 күн бұрын
Thanks man! I went with the 550hp kit because I knew that eventually I would switch over to flex fuel and I didn’t want to have change pulleys for that! You can still run the 550hp kit with pump gas, it obviously just won’t make 550. But with this kit, you’ll have a little extra boost and will likely be around 510whp+! Temps have been normal, they do rise quicker after doing pulls and when sitting in standstill traffic on a hot day. I would recommend the CSF radiator if you live somewhere with higher temps during the summer.
@Repent_By_Drift14 күн бұрын
@@Niishmo awesome thanks man. Yeah and good point on that! That's why I wanted to do some upgrading first because the cars already getting a fix and tune done, so I thought why not run E85 first. Then go SC down the track later! Currently the car is set up for drifting in Australia and my 350z went fine with the temps here, I just have an oil cooler.

Did you buy the ecutec tune and chip with the supercharger from z1, and was the remote tuning something that you have to pay additional for or is that a part of when you buy the complete supercharger kit?
@Niishmo21 күн бұрын
I already had an Ecutek Bluetooth kit from when I got my previous car tuned. I am tuned by AdminTuning, not Z1. Regardless of if you tune with Z1 or not though, the remote tuning does cost extra. Z1’s “complete” supercharger kit only includes everything you need to have on the car to get the supercharger kit running. Doesn’t include cost of tune or additional supporting mods like clutch/flywheel upgrade.

I can see a well sized turbo eating your for lunch on dig. Boost comes in really late.
@NiishmoАй бұрын
Don’t even care for digs in this car, but think about how quick rpms climb in 1st gear. I am hitting boost fairly quick after launching. Now, yeah a turbo can build boost at the line so that’s an advantage there. Pros and cons to both for sure. Turbo always tends to be faster if set up right on these cars.

How was your oil and coolant temp prior to the new radiator ?
@NiishmoАй бұрын
Prior to radiator and with ambient temperatures of 105+, oil would sit around 215/220 if in standstill traffic or if driving on the freeway. Coolant would sit around the same, but there were a few times where it got up to 230+ because of being stuck in traffic or driving for longer periods of time on the freeway. CSF rad made a HUGE difference, I don't ever see above 215 coolant temps now. Oil temps are lower too.

I really would not go 600whp+ on SC. The engine is really doing 700whp+ since the engine needs to power the SC.
@WadesR20vvlАй бұрын
I was thinking the same thing bro
@NiishmoАй бұрын
Yes, a supercharger takes power to make power. It is roughly 10hp for every pound of boost. So if I’m pushing 16psi at redline, it’s taking 160hp to spin that supercharger at that boost level. But that doesn’t mean that if I’m making 600whp, that in reality I’m doing 760whp. There would be no 600+whp SC stock block VQ’s out there if this was 100% true. They would all blow up after a few high boost pulls.
@corvettezr1ismАй бұрын
@@Niishmoyou're right actually. The engine isn't seeing 760hp in its internals. After power losses it's only seeing 600hp to it's internals. The extra 160 HP is being lost by the supercharger belt and being turned into work being done by the SC. Energy can't be lost, it's always transferred into smth else. But hp isn't what kills engines. It's actually the torque rating as HP is just a derivative of torque at 5252rpms. Remember you can't calculate hp without torque.
@corvettezr1ismАй бұрын
What I would rec'd is that he dial down the boost a bit. Looks like max capacity is for 16lbs. For reliability reasons that should be toned down to 14lbs if there's a way. I'm not sure how you can do that on SC setup

Yes, I made a custom dual catch can setup since nothing on the market currently fits with the Z1 supercharger. They are small dual baffled catch cans from Amazon. Working great so far. I just turned on Bluetooth and downloaded the EcuTek app on to the tablet, never had any issues with it.
@lostunder12Ай бұрын
@@Niishmo Thanks, I have ones made by ADDW1 dual baffled cans (it was an impulse buy) so I guess I'm gonna have to fab up a bracket for it.
