If you want voice guidance on other areas we have to either pay for whole of Cumbria at £8.99 or whole world at £29.99 one off payments , I found out when i went to Dockwray to do the coach road that It decided that was Allerdale and not in my free region, you can still access the map and check where you are etc just cant get voice guidance , I knew 99.9 % of where i was going on that ride so didnt bother paying , I guess I'll pay for the whole world access at some point when needed , the pi**er is my other half hasn't picked a free region and she is getting offered the whole world pack for £19.99 lol

Great video pal, superb single track, I’m watching it on my television, much better than a phone screen, as you know I’ve got Komoot as well but my directions are a male voice, I’ve tried to change it to female voice but no joy, and for some weird reason it’s decided to change to metric distances, I’ve changed nothing, bloody technology 🤷

I've never tried Michelins at all I've run them a lot on mx and trail bikes but have seen Heath have problems with the bead splitting on his e wilds , One thing I had come to yesterday while patching the casing is I'm probably not putting enough fluid in , the insert gets coated too and even tho I've been putting 180 cc in with 120 cc being what seems to be the norm for a 29 x 2.6 tyre set up it's looking like it's not enough for it to do it's job and only coating theinsert and casing with very little moving around the casing , I've also drilled the insert to allow the fluid to move easier , so after having the lightbulb moment I did a bit of research it seems like more fluid will help , I've been usng Muc off at the moment , but have used Stans fluid up to the last tyre change the only reason I'm on Muc off is Heath bought a litre and it was handy at last tyre change the DH 22's might be a solution tho as the amount of rock I ride up here seems to be the issue

@marcussmith6523 in reply to your post that seems to have been removed but is still in my notifications you wrote @kryten1021The cyclist was going too fast if they couldn't stop. What if it had been a young child that ran out. Pedestrians have priority in all situations, you cant just cycle into anything living because you are on a bicycle. Very poor hazard awareness by the cyclist.......... Here is my reply the dog ran towards her from a bit away after chasing her b f then turning and going after the girl had stopped easily when she realised the dog had decided to go for her., The owners didn't really make any attempt to get the dog under control until after they saw her fall down the ditch and the dog still bouncing about barking at her ....no drama about her going too fast or poor hazard awareness she easily stopped so even your theoretical small child would have been safe from her The other point is this couple were not with me, you can watch plenty of my other vids and you will see us passing walkers.... as to had that been a small child she would still have stopped easily so her hazard awareness was spot on ...and as I pointed out both parties were aware of each other from far enough away from each other on a wide fire road, she had taken the appropriate action and pulled up easily it was just unfortunate she had put her foot down over the ditch . The whole incident could easily have been avoided if the dog was under control by either being trained or on a lead. If you want to continue trying to hijack the theme to mtb's trying to ride anywhere and frightening walkers etc you really should watch more of my video's to see the happy pleasant chats with lots of walkers and dog owners I Understand the heirarchy of people using roads and trails and of course the most vulnerable category of users have priority and so forth up the chain with 4x 4's giving way to all the category's below , motorbikes , horse , cyclists and walkers

Those men were very apologetic about their dog and upset by the incident. Mutual respect and responsibility is necessary in shared spaces, as road bikers know only too well. MTB riders can also be inconsiderate and race past walkers (with and without dogs) without any warning of their approach or thanks for making people hastily take evasive action. I am not ashamed to admit that I am happy to apply the brakes and stop (when on my MTB) if I see potential problems ahead. Be safe.

one of them tried to tell me that she was going too fast ! she certainly wasn't and pulled up to a stop as she touched the dog, the problem was she had moved to her left to try and get away from it as it ran towards her, when she put her left foot down she was over the ditch and just toppled in. It was about 3 to 4 ft down into the bottom. As usual the camera hides depth , after I stopped filming it got quite heated with her b f and the two dog owners heading towards a fist fight , Brett calmed it down and they kept saying they were sorry they couldn't catch it, I reminded them that if it has no recall it should really be on a lead to comply with keeping it under control, like you say too many dog owners think that its perfectly fine to let their dogs run free because "we're in the country and they like to run ". I've seen some superb dogs that are fabulously trained, sadly for her not this one. She was shaken up and aching and not happy overall when me and Brett left but didnt appear to have any serious injuries. I did give them a pep talk about helmets and pads etc as both of them didn't even have helmets . Brett told her any crash you walk away from is a good crash to try and make her feel better first time in the forest for both of them and i suppose you don't really expect to fall off the edge of a fire road.

Great video Bob, looks pretty damp out there mate, what tyres and pressures do you run in the sloppy conditions, I have Maxxis Shorty on the back @ 19 PSI and Maxxis DHF @ 20 PSI, IIRC you run lower than that, I’m only asking with you mentioning that your getting some spin out, how about that with seeing a mole in the daylight hours, we saw a tiny little mouse when we went for a walk up the Derwent valley and it let us stroke it while we gave it Wotsits, it’s amazing what you can see if you keep your eyes peeled

I've come to find Maxxis a+Assegai for the fronts my best and Vittoria E Mazza for the rear both with inserts in but the confusion started when i got the Whyte I put the decent tyres on the whyte along with my nukeproof inserts, I'm slow on road sections usually trying to keep the power down as well so ideally i will run 10 psi front and 12 to 14 rear a superb climbing set up and pretty good puncture resistance , other than the rim ding on the gutter on Moor lane which I should have avoided I've had no issues, the Cannondale is now Running an exo+ Assegai frront and a goodyear Newton St rear , which was a cheap tyre i bought when i Knew no better (it's aimed at front fitment and is pretty good in dry rock but not so good when its like it is now ) I run both Tubeless with Muc Off sealant and I've struggled getting both the rears to seal up , weeping ever so slightly thru spokes even tho the whyte was factory taped, the cannondale has my super expensive chinese wheelset on it and i taped that one 😞 , I can't be arsed re taping them and they will seal eventually (I hope lol ) so in the mean time I'm running around 25 to 26 psi rear when i set off , I did bang the cannondale front up to 22 on the old DHF for the Keswick ride with Jules as I knew there was a lot of road, you'll have to try and get over this way at some point

That’s an interesting combination pal and one I’ve never tried before, I’ve always been quite heavy so my pressures have always had to be no lower than 18 PSI but I’ve put some more weight on but I still try to run 19 PSI in both tyres, I don’t use inserts as I prefer the squirming feeling climbing over rocks😉I’ll email you the other way pal 👍

Yeah I'm out a lot and at some point we probably passed each other. Grizedale is just so easy for me to get to. If you see me shout up 🙂 I just uploaded a short ride from yesterday usual into Grizedale and back out before the real rain started, the crap weather is keeping me on to the hopefully drier trails at the moment

Great video pal, trails look perfect and numerous stunning views too, very lucky to live so close to such brilliant trails mate, walkers can be an issue with them not paying attention with dogs off leads as it is where I live but I suppose it’s a small price for being able to ride our bikes in 🙏🙏

Glad you've done this, always fancied the Gatesgarth route up so you can take Nan Bield back to Kentmere but this a different take coming back via Mosedale. Interesting you didn't use Swindale to reach Mosedale (I've no idea if that's a rideable bridleway of course)

I was just being lead on this one , we were very close to Shap at one point and I saw mention of Swindale . I've not done Nan Bield via Gatescarth and Harters fell, I'm told Harters is gnarly in places. I did Nan Bield via High street and Mardale Ill Bell and found that hard. The route for this ride is on my Komoot, The reason we did it this way round was , two of them drove to Sadgill and I decided it was easier for me to drive to Stile end and ride over to meet them , hence riding back down Gatescarth sadly I ran out of batteries for the Gopro, I have plenty but only took two and filming in 4K uses them quickly . www.komoot.com/tour/1756338997?share_token=a18H5Uv3sAM4EpY1W0DdiW6577gYS2BchnmrI4uaFAbR6WI2NV&ref=wtd

Just out of curiosity mate, what the deciding factor on weather you take out the Cannondale or the Whyte?
@kryten1021
@kryten1021 2 ай бұрын
@@boypike25 really I'm trying to just use them sort of equally although if it's going to be steep climbing the whytes on 34 52t and the Cannondales on. 34 50 granny cog so the Whyte can climb just slightly easier

@WRF Bob bloody hell mate that’s one heck of a technical ride, I know the GoPro doesn’t show how steep those descents are but I know from experience that they’re no walk in the park, but what better bike than a Whyte to complete it on eh 😁😁😁

First time I've had it Flu Covid or whatever it is. I've not had more than a sniffle since 2020, I didn't even test this time as its common sense to try and not pass it all over the place and can only assume it is Covid as it has had me sat inside watching youtube feeling like shite and not even feeling like I wanted to get out and ride , it's knocked the crap out of me just as I would say a bad bout of Flu would . My mrs is in the vulnerable category and we still have some test kits so she tested and was +ve so I didn't bother testing. pretty sure I picked it up from visiting my dad in hospital, folk coughing all over in there . The Plus side towards the end of the ride I was starting to feel slightly better as you can see with my body language and today I'm starting to feel like I've more energy. Your spot on the sun certainly helps

I know what you’re going through mate, it’s absolutely awful and leaves you feeling the worst ever, me and my wife caught it and it knocked us out for almost three weeks, I think myself lucky to have had all the vaccinations as I’m on the vulnerable list too as I’m asthmatic, I hope you shake it off quickly pal 😉😉
