Does someone have the CBS news clip of his passing? I remember them mentioning his age as they showed him as the Cowardly Lion running down the Wizard of Oz's corridor and through the window.

He did the Commercial Ads until his passing in the late 60's.Later succeeded by Buddy Hackett.

Bert Lahr from Lay's Potato Chips.

(This is Tom, not Sandra.) Mr. Lahr is one of my favorite show business personalities from way back. He is also one of my favorite character actors, ever, and his portrayal of "The Cowardly Lion" in 'The Wizard Of Oz' makes him, and his part in it, my favorite character from that film. I also love ALL of the old "LAYS" TV commercials he did in the 1960's, also!!!! He was an American treasure, to say the least!!!! An institution you might say, too!!!!

Thank you for sharing this with the public. Bert was so funny in those commercials. And Phil Carey playing an undercover agent for Granny Goose potato chips; saying those chips were "for grown ups " was classic as well. Most commercials are annoying, but these are still funny and entertaining after all these years.😀 Phil Carey playing a uncover agent I'm Granny Goose potato chip commercials was hilarious as well. Commercials with talent and a sense of humor.

It's funny how he said that there must be a pussycat in the tank from 0:05-0:07 since he's also a cat species as the Cowardly Lion from "The Wizard Of Oz."

My mom was teased in high school in 1965 for being the only person in her school who "can eat just one" potato chip. Hey, that self control helped her keep healthy ever since!
