Note: For some reason LiveRC is missing data for Andre, who ended up winning. So there are 8 drivers in the race, but only stats for 7.

The LiveRC stats were somehow wrong on the site and showed CJ and Atalo missing a lap at the beginning, even though they did not according to the local track computer.

Nice vid :) Out of interest, how are you doing the race data along the top?
@BirdRC7 ай бұрын
Thanks! The race statistics overlay is a program I created. It is a python script that downloads the data from liverc.com, does some math on the data, and then uses it to generate a .ass subtitle file. Then I use ffmpeg to burn the subtitles to the video before uploading to YT. However all of this needs to be time-synced. To help with this I wrote code to detect the sound of the start tone. Majority of it is all automated now!

An interesting glitch in this video. Matt and Mike actually crossed the line on their fiirst lap at the exact same time of 12.012! Due to this, LiveRC actually listed them both in 1st place, but confused my software and somehow it put Matt in last place, but it fixed itself when he came back around for lap 2.

Man i can see how that might be tricky since theres a turn right after landing. Normally id say land on power to keep speed up. What about jumping wide so you can land on power and power through the corner........i dont know but good luck dude!!!!!!!@BirdRC

At the end of the race the TV said I had finished in 2nd place, which is why I was surprised that I snuck ahead of Chris somehow. It turned out the timing system missed a lap for him, so I did get 3rd after all. The stats were re-computed for the video and are correct.
@highdesertaggrorc78019 ай бұрын
Great run Tony, main races are real fun to watch! You did very well with the double jump on the back straight going right into that corner and not hitting the wall once, very good. Isaiah drove right into you a couple times but will learn to chill and hold his line better and not cause crashes as he progresses. These tight passing situations are harder in 1/10 carpet than on dirt 1/8th. Your new B7 really looks good out there!
@BirdRC9 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I am enjoying my B7 a lot. It has been working really well for me so far. It was a new layout, and I only had a few packs of practice so I wasn't super comfortable with the back straight, so I wasn't going full out, I was only driving it to the speed I could make the jump cleanly with. I felt taking it slow would more than make it for itself if I was able to avoid even 1 time being marshaled there. So you can even hear Mike say after Isaih hits me that I was going kinda slow. So it may not be all his fault. Because of that though, you can see the next time I go for that jump with him behind me, I took it faster to avoid him passing me or crashing me, but that lead to me over-shooting the jump due to me taking it faster than I was used to, and he passed me anyways because of it. Was definitely a super fun and intense race for sure!
@highdesertaggrorc78019 ай бұрын
@@BirdRC that’s a really analysis of the race action. We really learn a lot by watching back. I think we really learn a ton of race craft by running on carpet, it’s kind of a pressure cooker compared to dirt!😆

Looks like for the size of the track a 17.5 in the 4wd would be plenty?
@BirdRC11 ай бұрын
Yeah would be plenty, but tell that to the guys running Mod 4wd, lol! I have mine turned down down 85-90% throttle rate, but mostly because I'm still new with 4wd. I think I heard Hobby Action was going to start a 17.5 4wd class though, so would be interesting to see where the industry goes...

Good job Anthony, this is a wild race story with a great title. A very fun video here. I also really enjoyed seeing so many people packed in and watching the race. Hey man, what tires yall running out there? I just made the switch from cut staggers to the wide fuzz bites. So far so good. Nice driving!!!
@BirdRC11 ай бұрын
Thanks! So I'm running cut staggers front and mezzo rear for the Schumacher car on this video. I use fuzz bite both wide and regular on my Associated cars and love them. I glue the sidewalls. The carpet here is a bit rough and they work well. When i am at a smooth CRC carpet track i used fuzz fronts on the Schumacher too. Do you use the foam on your wide fuzzbites?
@jamisonsenitz252811 ай бұрын
@BirdRC I do run the foams with side walls glued most of the way up. I thought to try and run foams because on the cut staggers I didn't run with foam. I like the wide fuzz bite on my ae b6.3 been thinking about trying pin swaggs but fuzz bite been working good so I don't know.
@BirdRC11 ай бұрын
Right on man! Yeah I really like the fuzz bites on my AE cars. My mod car started out as a a 17.5t B6.3, but I upgraded it to a B6.4 a while back. Once I got the LD2 I converted it to a mod car to play around with. I think some of my earliest videos have it as a B6.3 when it was all green. I feel like I need to do some more back to back testing to see if the wides work better for me or not. The fast kid in the video is running regular fuzz bite front, him and his dad swear by them.

Man this track looks alil tighter than the last one!!!!!! Tou mess with set up any???
@BirdRC11 ай бұрын
Yeah it might be a little tighter with the added jumps, but its far from being cramped. Its one of the most fun layouts they have had imo. I haven;t messed with setup too much yet as I wanted to get a feel for the track first, and I brought 4 different cars to test out in a short amount of time, lol. I will say I turned down the throttle rate on my wheeler to 85% and that made it a lot more manageable right now as I work my way up on improving my skills with it, and that helped.
