Wow! What a huge project. I've always wanted to go to the Great Exhibition - maybe I'll be able to after all.

Not long to wait (Q3) - fire up your Steam VR system (best with a VR headset, falls back to monitor / keyboard / mouse otherwise). If you haven't already done so - please look at video 50 in this playlist - it's a tour of most of those parts of the ground floor so far modelled. Please subscribe for notifications of future videos. And please spread the word...

This is fantastic! Like being there in person. A lot of work has gone into this video and narration. What a great project! The GE has long deserved a film or detailed book this is even better!. I loved how on certain days the price was lowered so that poorer working people could attend. now technology is making it truly accessible again. I think Prince Albert would be pleased with your work Also thank you for telling the current homes of these exhibitions

Thank you - I'm glad it is appreciated. I'm continuing to seek out the extant exhibits, and generate recreations of those items lost or untraced. I still have quite a list to add before the Q3 2024 release (& then more to add after that). I've really enjoyed visiting the extant exhibits which we have modelled (e.g. the two M L Watson sculptures at UC Oxford & UC London; Richard Coeur de Lion outside the Palace of Westminster, and others - I think we've done 22 so far at the last count). Please subscribe to keep track of my video updates, and take a look at the Steam page. Oh, and spread the word, this is going to be a free application (in 1851 it was at least a shilling!) - so as many people as possible might as well benefit from it!

The building was so ahead of it's time!

Indeed, a "copy & paste" building. See video #2 in this series for the construction of the building.

Such detail. Wonderful achievement and plenty of skilled and non skilled labour involved no doubt.

The peak in one week was 2260. Even so, it's remarkable how quickly it was done.

Thank you. The plans provided by the archives of the 1851 Commission have proved extremely useful. I had made a few minor errors which have now been corrected, and the contents in this video would not have been possible without those plans.

It must have been great being there.

I find myself losing quite a lot of time in there once I've donned my VR headset - the real thing must have been quite a wonder.

Thank you. I had the privilege last week to visit the archives of the 1851 Commission, and they provided me with detailed floor plans including the location of all the statues and stands (I've made a few minor errors so far - easily corrected).

Any chance of a VR preview here on KZbin? Or at least a 3d enabled video? Or is it a slide show in 2d? Either way it's wonderful work!!

Thank you for your comment. Please follow the full playlist - there are several samples of VR headset views, particularly in the later videos as the exhibits start to fill up: kzbin.info/aero/PLA-_xnPePiDJkZAC0aF8Va5fdajVaI_Z1

Can you help me i also made my model by makr human but names of object has changed there is no up lolid its orbicularis i wont know how to put them in the script ?
@hookedwitfilms949311 ай бұрын
If the item is there with a different name, either rename it back, or use the alternate name in the script. If the eyelids are missing completely, you probably saved with the wrong skeleton: Pose/Animate - skeleton - Unity)

It's to fast. Explain why and how did it burn down? It's all metal and glass
@hookedwitfilms949311 ай бұрын
The structural framework was iron; the windows were glass. The floorboards & joists were wood. The window frames were wood. The wallboards were wood. Quite a lot of wood really. As to what kicked off the fire in the first place? No idea. I didn't spend very much time on the fire, because this was the relocated/expanded version of the building, not the one as used at the Great Exhibition itself, so the fire was of passing interest only.
