I got the feeling in the ballade he wasn't entirely happy with something, maybe the piano or an off day also I noticed a few technical 'splashes ' as a result of too quick tempo or other factors. Who knows.

As matter of fact in this weird world is not enough the talent or the effort studying and practicing daily, also you have to have a powerful pushing behind you that make you go up in your dreams, they call it luck… I call it be smart and be the architect of your own destiny, look for what you want and plan the way to achieve it…that is it.

Great pianist, exquisite technique and phrasing taste, incredible hands …..why some goes to fame like foam and this doesn’t…mystery.

It is weird that Martha Argerich dies not pronounce herself in favor of this guy same she did with Trifonov, because this guy is much better than Trifonov without any pretension or making any faces, he feels music inside, like a great musician.

One of my favourites , so heard it many times as well as playing it myself to a far less standard. That was one of the best performances of it I have heard. Bravo !

It's true she has great technique and she can play fast and soft which is a really coveted skill for pianists... She has great potential to reach the greats such as Richter, Pollini etc.

Beautiful touch and technique, but the amount of rhythmic and dynamic liberty (overall inconsistencies) taken detracts from any sense of swinging groove or feel exemplified by Tatum himself. Very few have been able to actually capture the feel and true sound of Tatum. Any world class technician who can play Rachmaninov or Liszt could play the right notes. But this misses the point. Yes, Tatum was dynamic and all but it has become labored and almost predictable how many pianists apply a typically Late-Romantic Classical feel to Jazz piano, especially earlier Jazz piano styles which grew chiefly out of the Blues and Ragtime. Listen to Jelly Roll Morton or James P Johnson; earlier recorded practitioners and masters of Jazz piano who had Classical technique. It's a whole different approach to articulation, timing etc. Basically, these modern Classical pianists over-accentuate every/any perceivable nuance (or just add their own out right accents and timing) at the cost of a steady swinging feel and rhythmic groove that the Stride Jazz piano players have when you listen. The music is beyond what's on the page! :)

The piano was not a good match to Vyacheslav and his virtuosity. It was not able to deliver the dynamic range and clarity that he called for in his performance.

I don't think it's the piano. I think its the recording. Not the best acoustics. There's another recital of the same piece, same artist, that's much better. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnmYp5iuhJqtaqssi=CiUlGCZoMsf2trRy

The Bach-Busoni Chaconne is one of my favorite works and I’ve heard many different performances over the last 40 years. In my opinion the is the best I’ve ever heard. His articulation, dynamics, and tempi are simply outstanding and his choice of the D major final chord is beautiful. In my book this is the perfect interpretation.
