Is a crime what they doing to that mountain. I can imagine the garbage and everything else they leave behind

This was easy to listen to, as your voice was calm, and your cute doggies were calm 😊💞

"So first south asian woman from canada to climb mt. Everest." What kind of archivement is that? I am the first german guy, wearing a funny hat while having a mole 3cm next to the mouth that drinks a coffee to comment in this comment section.

Well I can see the locals even the body since to be prepared by the fact that they're born there. I do not understand this suicidel thing to do . What's the attraction the fun the adventure the point to fo do something you have a huge percentage of dying???????

Seems to me that profit motive is one of the more pernicious dangers facing Everest expeditions...

Bucket lists are pointless because at the bottom there's only death. She wanted to feel complete by climbing a mountain means she was empty to start with. What's a silly mountain going to do about that?

I'll admit I was a bit skeptical of your narrating but after a few minutes in and I will admit I enjoyed it thoroughly. My condolences to the family most importantly. Subscribing now! Best wishes from New York City.

Adding profit motive to the already insanely complex and dangerous world of high alpine climbing seems dubious.

Adding profit motive to the already insanely complex decision-making processes that high alpine climbing entails, is dubious at best.

Well shit, the documentary that they did didn't mention Sandy was on the last of the 7 summits, even though they said again and again that Yasuko Namba was. Crazy

I dont blame her, like the entire internet does. I think her inexperienced guides giving her another bottle of oxygen. They didnt properly manage expectations, despite knowing she would run out of oxygen on the way down.

In no way, shape or form did Into Thin Air portray her as the main villain. Not even close
@RichardStanczak14 сағат бұрын
I read Into Thin Air, and did not get the impression that Krakauer “blamed” Pittman, but rather used her as an example of a person who was not ready or able to climb Everest. The ultimate root cause was the decision to not turn back after missing the milestones that were supposed to be nonnegotiable. Unfortunately the financial and egotistical drivers to get to the summit were too much to overcome. And those drivers are still leading to deaths at Everest to this very day.

It was a storm at the top of mt. Everest .. it was a shitstorm at 30k ft. Everybodybknew the very real risks as they walked passed the bodies littering the path.

I have read a few mountaineering books and articles. They have convinced me that I have no desire to climb any mountain, let alone one as challenging as Everest. My condolences to her husband and family..especially having to watch her leave knowing that it was likely she was not coming back.
@samplisticsam467819 сағат бұрын
The problem is Sandy herself reinforces the picture krakauer paints of her in every interview she gives. She comes off as self-centered, self-aggrandizing, arrogant, overbearing, and seems to have a martyr complex.

The highest I’ve been is Dead Woman’s Pass in Peru - 4,215 metres or 13,828 feet. Well worth it but that’s about as risky as I’ll get thanks.

Sandy's team leader wanted her to summit because it would make headlines and bring other wealthy clients to his business. No one should need to be short roped in Everest, that is wrong. If you are short roped for 5 or 6 hours did you really summit Everest or were you carried ?
