You should be ashamed. 85 people died horribly & here is the real estate industry all smiles and greedy as f--! I call that a direct ticket to Hell.

With taxes, you get what you pay for. I’ve lived in Texas and Florida, both with no state income tax. Public schools in those states were lacking. Universities in those states are few and class options limited. I retired in Chico and have no regrets.

I'm nearby Sacramento and I have a remote job, so I can live anywhere. Housing is too expensive here. I'm thinking of Oroville for its cheap housing. Makes me feel happy there are many homes under $300k.

The old guard that were hell bent on keeping Chico authentic have all passed on now. The new kids in charge are all about “ progress” and “ growth”. They have demolished the small town beauty that WAS Chico. In its place no more open fields, buildings and structures everywhere all built right next to each other. Roundabouts everywhere. “Modern” mini communities are being constructed with schools,shopping,high rise apartment buildings all “Modern” looking. No more several acre horse ranches. No more orchards. All replaced with 200 unit housing “ communities”. Cars Everywhere. Chico is now a suburb of Sacramento.
@happycat3399Ай бұрын
Bidwell park overrun with drug paraphernalia, homeless deficating in the river and homeless camps with litter strewn everywhere at the picnic sites. Downtown is nearly a ghost town no businesses homeless sleeping and defecating in doorways so patrons have to step over trash and people to get into the stores. Street power washers every day to wash away the urine and feces from sidewalks and streets. Entire Homeless camps living ON the bike paths. Gun violence has skyrocketed, shootings from vehicles, drug activity all time high. CSUC enrollment down by 50%. Housing crisis is out of control and Chico is building new apartments for homeless not for paying residents. Housing prices rival So Cal, rents are astronomical. Chico looks nothing like the town I grew up in.

Go to St Louis, Memphis Tulsa, and fix up an old school home, or anywhere in the heartland that has beautifully built old wood homes real bricks real concrete that could be renovated for half this amount including the purchase of the home.

Northern California certainly has had its challenges the past 6 years, and while it's something that we do unfortunately have to be mindful of, no matter where you go you have issues to consider. Some areas of the country are prone to hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, etc. Ours has been fire. But there are still many amazing things about living here that make it a great place to be!

Nice overview of Chico. It’s a pretty bike friendly place. Businesses seem to want more people here but residents not so much. More and more traffic and growth, maybe too much. Concerns that Chico at the rate it is growing will soon become a little a Sacramento-unbelievably car centric. Ugh! Don’t really think we need more residents. It’s a beautiful place though. Lots of trees in many areas. Bidwell Park is a gem!
@TheNorCalLifeАй бұрын
It is a bike friendly place for sure, and getting to be more so! Have you seen all of the changes happening on Esplanade? They are putting in designated bike lanes down the entire stretch. They are also considering that for Downtown as well. Lots of small businesses have closed their doors that past year or so, but we've also had a few new ones come to town that could certainly use community support to help our city continue to thrive!

What are the fire insurance rates in Chico?
@TheNorCalLife2 ай бұрын
Chico has not been as effected by the fire rates as much compared to some of the surrounding areas. Isn't Paradise the town that burned to the ground recently? What are your clients telling you homeowners insurance is costing them?
@TheNorCalLife2 ай бұрын
Yes, fire destroyed most of Paradise about 6 years ago in November of 2018. But since then the town has grown back with intention! The community has been rebuilding like crazy and it’s currently the official fastest growing town in all of California. We have great relationships with local insurance providers that our clients have been really happy with. Insurance cost totally depends on the area and zone you choose to live in. I’m not refusing to answer or skirting the issue as I’d be happy to talk with you any time about it. It just depends on different factors. If you’re interested in talking anytime, please reach out and I’d be happy you connect and share more with you about it!

Well, I still have my property on Foster, but if you told me that at some point you could buy property in Calif for around $40k/acre I would have said you were nuts. But here it is. I was just there yesterday and there are still areas that are barren with the exception of undergrowth beginning to overtake properties. It is once again possible for a large scale fire, but not on the level of the Camp Fire.
