Great video! With both the "walking trail leg" and "scooting trail leg" drills, it seems like you put your passive lead leg down before the hurdle. I was always told to put that foot down after the hurdle, like you do with the trail leg 1 step drill. My coaches said that this makes it easier to pull your trail leg through. What's the reason you don't do this in all your drills?

@@9y028 it's is because the. Step before take off (cut step) is meant to propel you into the hurdle. If your cut were in front of the hurdle chances are, you'd be on the ground. 😂 Want it to resemble going into the hurdle as much as possible.

I'm on my 2nd year of cross country but I am a sprinter. I figured that cross country would help me maintain my speed until track season, but help my sprinting in the long run by making me stronger & put more force into the ground. I am mainly a 100 & 200 runner, so I wasn't sure how much cross would help my top end speed. Recently, I got timed in a 10m fly. My best time is around a 1.17. (I ran the 10m fly on the dirt part of a baseball field with flats, so I could run faster on the track.) However, my most recent time was around a 1.25. This was after about 2 months of cross country. Do you think that next year I should do something other than cross country? My school also has off season track training where we do a sprint warm up & run around 50m sprints.

@@anabraj9855 if you have an off-season class that emphasizes speed, and power, you should definitely do that instead. No knock on XC, but it won't help you as a sprinter, especially the 1&2.

Don't ignore shin splints they evolve into stress fractures. You will be taken out of running for at least 2 months.
