We can complain all day long and talk about whats right and wrong in youth baseball and baseball recruiting, but that doesn't change reality. Times have changed. What scouts look for is very largely showcase based. It is what it is. In the DR its very showcase driven. Strategy is an afterthought. Passion for the game is an afterthought. Hell, fun is an afterthought. Its tools tools tools. And every MLB team has a facility there. Thats reality. Tools and showcases. That's where we are and we have to adapt. Tbh the travel ball and highschool ball is just a pre-requisite because you have to have a game for a scout or college coach or recruiter to come to. But tools and rankings are where we are now and its not changing anytime soon no matter how much we talk about it. People have to adjust. Who cares that "the game isnt what it used to be"? You gotta do what is required to be successful today. Not the things we did in years past.

Agreed on most points. Most of these showcases are a money pit ripoff. If you're a 5'5" SS, in the 9th grade, there is no chance you're going D1 no matter what the showcase.
