@ I just got some cast iron bells. One side is flattened to show the weight, should I grab them a certain way so the flat isn’t arm side for cleans or does it matter at all?
@Thekettlebelldude7 сағат бұрын
@ I’ve use some just like that at my first base. They left a bad red mark on my forearm every time I used them wrong. Make sure the flat faced side is outside (away) from your forearm to reduce bruising.
@improvingISAAC2 сағат бұрын
@ okay thank you for the info. I’m sure I could have figured it out after some usage, but my arms wouldn’t have thanked me for that. I have decided to ditch my adjustable comp bells and I got pairs of 16,20,24s. (Well I still have the comp ones until someone buys them.. 😑) I’m hoping the time saving of the bells will be another thing to help me want to pick them up instead of having to swap weights for heavy vs light work. I went with a brand I hadn’t seen much about, but they had some good Black Friday deals and they are ductile iron, which seems to be top of the line. The powder coat finish isn’t ideal on them, but I need to get over trying to keep them in tip top shape as they are going to get used and abused. Still going strong with the program =) I’m getting some filming gear for Christmas, so expect me to tag you in a video come the new year. 🙏

@Thekettlebelldude2 күн бұрын
@@virtualblackface3009 I would need to see your technique, but typically most people pull the bell too high and let it flop on their arm. The key is to pull the bell just high enough and finesse your open hand through the bell’s handle. A loose (fingers only grip) is necessary for this technique. I just might make another video on this. Thanks for the question.

What do you do to monitor your physical changes? Hopping on the scale too often creates mental stress for me. I know clothing fitting loose, body measurements, noticing your abilities to lift more and people complimenting changes are other ways. Do you do anything specific to monitor your progress? Specifically weight loss?
@Thekettlebelldude8 күн бұрын
@@improvingISAAC Yes, great question. When I was in the Air Force, I used calipers, scales, and the BodPod (to measure body composition). Now I simply use the mirror for visual changes, and the scale periodically (once a week) to verify or modify my eating habits.

@@KirillBenIgor This is a strategy taken for Russian speed strength training. You take 50 or 55% of your 1 rep max lift. And use that weight for 3 fast or powerful reps, resting 45 seconds in between sets. This is called “speed day.” A pendulum wave is used every 3 weeks. (Wk1 50%, wk2 53%, wk3 55%, week 4 reload.
