I recently bought a copy of Identity and I have to say this was the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle for me. So, if you are interested in what he is talking about, consider buying the book.

Final thoughts for now on this excellent interview… my “red alert” moment was when he talked about a new agency the would support economic development in space (like a hotel) and shortly thereafter he said “We want them to support this commercial use which Space Force will then secure.” This means he believed his futuristic work exists in an “us against them” world (capitalism & democracy vs oligarchy & fascism). He’s ignoring (doesn’t think it can change?) the sociopolitical competition that exists today. I do not believe this contest (which is one to the death at least in the eyes of Putin) can be ignored. I’m sorry he is willing to imagine doing what he’s doing in a world that needs a “Space Force”. Bucky would say that’s not accurate. So would Drs Deming and Ackoff.

PS Thank you for bringing up Buckminster Fuller in the interview. As Bucky said, “We are all passengers and crew on Spaceship Earth”. Using the spaceship we’re already on the way God intended it to be used - by recognizing war is obsolete when you realize its root cause is a belief in scarcity - should be our priority. This way we will create a world in which everyone wins!

AI terrifies me. I’d like to talk with you about the distinction between doing what we can do vs doing what we should do. Also… please look up the enormous amount on energy AI requires. In a world in which we need to reduce our energy use, AI - as a technology no matter what skill level it achieves - flies in the face of that societal imperative!
