Hopefully you are still responding to this video. I'm going to retire in Colombia in 3 years, will be 60. I'll be good with my pension and at 62 will collect social security. I'm in Colombia every 2 months, been there about 40x already. I stay in laureles but i have no intentions of living in medellin. I'm now looking to visit pereira and cali. Don't want to be in cartagena, where I didn't like or Bogota. I'm diabetic so i know my health insurance will be higher. My goal is to rent not own, due to my age and health. I'm not unhealthy by any means but... if i purchase property there and something happens to me, my kids will not go there and sell the property. Some Colombia will have a free apartment so owning is not an option. I do not want to spend more than 2000 a month total, tho i can afford to. I'm in NYC paying 1800 a month maintenance with a 3 bedroom coop. I'm going to look into the retirement visa and possibly citizenship. Do you know what happens when you overstay your visa? How strict are they if you know. Thanks

As a Colombian, I can tell you that Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena are very expensive to live in, due to the geocentrization that has been produced by the transfer of so many foreigners. If you want to live more cheaply, go to the smaller towns and cities like Bucaramanga, Villavicencio, the towns of Boyaca and Santander, which are beautiful and even have more natural resources to enjoy, super organic and delicious food, very cheap rents, and less traffic and vehicle pollution.

Friends..this is wrong information...it seems that these guy are just creating difficulties to sale their smelly fish...facts: just get your CPF number either online or going to any post office and apply yourself... costs about 2 dollars, at the police federal it is free!, you can get your CPF before going to Brasil. it take a 2/3 days after filling the online form, with the CPF you can open bank accounts, get phone lines etc just like any brazilian, before any thing go to any Policia federal office and ask what to do. you do not need any lawyers, there they will inform you all question you might have, if possible take a friend to translate for you if you do not speak Portuguese, health is free in Brazil even if you are a tourist, just go in any hospital or UPA, there are thousands all over Brazil, many foreigners who came to Brazil start to sale help to their country men, and they fork out your hard cash... all visas and other matter are free, so never pay for smart guys...for the nomad visa you need to prove an income of about 2 thousands dollars a month, apply online or a consulate...or at the police federal.
