It's hard to sing and play. You have a lovely voice. Maybe it will help in this case to really nail Phil Harris's cadence. Harris was a swing band leader for decades long before getting this song. Not only did he have an anchorman's voice, but like Nat King Cole he could swing a band with his voice. Check him out with the Jubilee 4.

My hats off to you, sir! Mark Knopfler‘s music is certainly not easy to cover, but you did an excellent version and captured his unique picking style, poetic lyrics, writing, and general aura. Extremely nice thank you! I was lucky enough to catch dire straits on their first tour in America in a large bar in DC, and was so taken with them that I convinced my friend to call in sick the next day and we went to Norfolk Civic Center about 3000 seats and not but half full, and they blew his mind also. To this day, the first two albums are still my favorites, and certainly in my top 10 of all time! There were about six people waiting around after the show at their bus to get autographs. We were feeling somewhat psychedelic at the time, and had a 15 minute wide ranging, and very funny conversation with Mark and his😢 brother. We had been invited by some girls to a party but given sketchy directions. However, we invited Marc and band to come with us and Mark and brother did ! We drove around for almost 3 hours, drinking beer and laughing our asses off at each other’s accents, his cockney and mine redneck, Southern. He refused to smoke with us because I think he was worried about being in a foreign country and getting set up or in trouble and I certainly can’t blame him for that, but he was a very fun articulate bloke and we had a blast. We never found the party and I probably spilled seven or eight beers on the floor of my van because I kept setting them down after I opened them on the floor and of course every time I turned a corner or swerved over they went to the point that I think he started worrying about getting in a car wreck! My friends and I were on cloud nine and couldn’t quit laughing! He finally said he needed to get back to the Holiday Inn and get some sleep as they were leaving early in the morning so I took them back and we went into the lounge which was just having the house band finish up. I ran up and talked to them and told them who he was and could he play a song with them they said Hell yes and he agreed when I told him, and he proceeded to do one of the best versions of Johnny be good I have ever heard in my whole life! One of the high points of my musical life and I’ve seen just about everybody as I am 73 and have always loved music! I wish I had stayed in touch with him, but I was too buzzed to think of that. So we parted ways after the song. I took my girlfriend to New Jersey to see him on his second tour, and we talked briefly but that was the end of our relationship except that I love his music and writing so much that I have kept up with it to this day including his side projects with people like Emmylou Harris, which is pretty fabulous. Just one of those magic moments that happens in pychedelia! Love your playing, bro! Never quit!
