I remember finding this when I was so young and fell in love w the song after watching the movie after finding it at the library. So I had a strong childhood connection to this. Then years later, I tributed it to my abuser... Now it makes me depressed and happy at the same time. It's a weird feeling and I wish I had never ruined this song for me because it's still so precious to me. I remember nights I'd cry to this song when I was still in the relationship. I hope I can fully heal and be happy n blissful listening to this again.

Thank you for sharing your story-I wish I had replied earlier but better late than never, right? I think you should definitely reclaim this song, as in remove any association with this person because he obviously does not deserve it. More importantly, the love and magic come from within you. You also have the power to heal and be better than ever. Accept that you were young and naive, looking for love in the wrong places but also recognize that you’ve grown wiser. No one can take away the spark and the love that are already in you. When I wrote the lyrics, I had never been in love. I was having a mild crush on someone I knew and was imagining how it must feel to love or be in love. I think that’s partly how the words come off so pure (because I literally knew nothing of the struggle and heartbreak that come in the path of finding love). When I was in past relationships (that did not work out), I’d laugh at my young self who wrote this-so silly and unrealistic. But now that I’ve found my person… like a full circle, I appreciate my young self again because she wasn’t wrong about how joyous and simple it should feel when you are with the right person in the right time. I hope what I typed makes sense! You will find that person with whom you will have that feeling too, I’m sure of it!

@@anabellexxxx You are so right. A year from now, I am not fully healed but I am long on my journey of healing and can now sing along to your lyrics happily and sweetly again. Except now when I sing with you, it's from a whole new perspective on love and life. I was about 11 or 12 when I first heard it, 21 going on 22 at the end of this year, I am once again hearing this song with joy in my heart like the first time I found it. I'm so happy you fully appreciate what you wrote, it's had an impact on me and my life. Good and bad ways, of my own volition. But, as you said, coming full circle. It brings me happiness hearing it, as I now know that such sweet words evoking emotions like this, could've never amounted to the person that hurt me. Also, I learned to play the original song on piano, but as I play it, I sing your lyrics. Thank you for such a beautiful and amazing song.

I just watched the movie, and started searching for the ost, then came across your song. Just amazing. You should make your own recording for the themes of other Ghibli movies. I'll definitely tune in!
