if u dont want to mess up ur starting and keep it clean go to the folder Pixologic>Zalpha instead create a custom folder and throw all ur PSD files in there then u can use them through LIghtBox>Alpha> your folder. If u are having problems using ur alphas because they act like textures go to photoshop> image> mode>grayscale> 16 bits then re export ur PSD into the custom folder u made and re start z brush enjoy.

Why doesn't Zbrush just save the alphas you load?

Well if you want you can put the alpha in zbrush install folder.. Zalphs... So that everytime you open the zbrush light box you go to the alpha and all Alpha will appear... Unfortunately zbrush dosent save them to memory save issue
