stupid question: why not taking off the top nut on the spark plug and fastening the wire with a fixed loop and a secured nut? under that aluminium top end is a thread….turn it off and use two small flat heaxagon nuts and put a pressed loop end on the wire…? just an idea, as the shoe of the wire looks not very expensive, and the top of the plug looked torn terribly…

The newest hummel plans have tri-gear. How do you like the tail wheel? Would you prefer the tri-gear if it was available when you built?
@bryancotton7279Ай бұрын
I'm not sure about the ultracruiser, but my 1990 vintage hummelbird plans show a tri-gear option. Same main gear but bolted on the rear of the spar instead of the front.
@junsaito4399Ай бұрын
I know the tri-gear option. It is easier ground handling than tail dragger. While Japanese airplane certification is very strict. Tail dragger type Ultra cruiser has already certification. If I file tri-gera type one, New certification is necessary . It take long time. That's the reason why I persist in tail dragger one.

cool video, knew they were dangerous but seeing this really opens the eyes. side note, typical english would have made it more correct to say "touches and go", but touch and go isn't a noun, it's an adjective, so there would actually need to be a noun after this "touch and go moments" perhaps. Touch and go is like "fun", you wouldn't say "several funs with the ball".

Thank you for your advice. I am Japanese and not an English native, so please allow my incorrect English. For Japanese English education world, a small error makes one point niunus, another error makes one more ninus point, finally whole sentence makes no points: Zero, even it make sense. The tendency makes Japanese English students motivation down very much. I fortunately find a solution: I don't hesitate to speak and write my English, even it includes some errors. I will accept your advice and continue to correct my English. Thanks

Too bad you can't use aviation spark plugs and wires which have threaded on retainers with a 1/2 VW engine. Perhaps a retaining clip or tab can be added to keep the wire from popping off. If it happened once it might happen again.
