The Van Der Kolk 'body' stuff is actually linked to the New Age and occult, so I would be very careful about that. It's definitely true that trauma impacts our physical bodies, but do note that New Agers give a lot of weight to healing through the body. There are even demonic, psychedelic-inspired songs about healing "in and through the body". Also, all that talk about 'energy' is something central to witchcraft. (Hence the existence of 'reiki' and 'energy healing' in New Age circles). I'm saying all this because my trauma therapist introduced me to all these resources and concepts too, and 2.5 years later, I realise what a deception it was. The trauma to New Age pipeline is real, and the trauma psych field is saturated with it.

Do you have any recommendations for experts in clinical social work and kinship care. We need to hire an expert for an upcoming trial.

Amen to all of this. I couldn’t agree more. Our agency, WinShape Homes, did a campaign to help reframe the message of foster care away from the perception of disruption and bring it back to the expression of God’s beautiful grace lived out in action by those who love Him and are responding to that love by raising their hands to jump in. I felt your conversation in this was echoing that message. 👏🏼

Just watched his adoption video. Love this young man! He got THE BEST PARENTS. ❤. He is such a loving kid. If I were 20 or so years younger, I would foster/adopt a dozen like Darien. Even if they weren't like him, I'd love a houseful.

I love Jackie Polk! I can definitely relate to parts of her story. If I had children they absolutely would have been in the same position. She is amazing and so strong!

We are just beginning the foster care training process... and I'm somewhat torn because on one hand, we want to treat our future foster kids as our own and get attached and love them deeply. I think it will help if we just know what to expect... like if we are told to expect the fostering to be for 6 months or 1 year or what. Any suggestions on how to deal with that? Because we do have intentions to adopt if it leads to that. Not that it will, but we are open to it.

Hi can you do my story please, Foster care from biological parents side. Proof can be provided. We heartbroken 💔 concerning the injustice that was done in our case. We went for help with our child's best interests at heart. The now Ex Social worker, Supervisor and Foster parents worked against us in every way, to the extreme of being dishonest. We have lost our child to Foster care until 18 because of the above people's dishonest,, all done behind the scenes. The Ex Social worker didn't comply with the Foster care process according to South Africa law. Proof we have. They all took advantage of the fact their word was always taken for truth by the Magistrate, and they all disrespected the Magistrate in that way to take advantage of the Magistrate's trust. Our story is actually heartbreaking 💔.

This episode was a gift from God to me. We had to say a hard goodbye to our foster daughter. She went to be with family in another state. 😭 At times, I feel guilty for not fighting to keep her here. I loved what you said about being the “saved and not the Savior.” I’m going to share this episode with other foster mamas. Thank you so much!
