ADV Films will always be my #1 source in anime. Gone, but not forgotten. I found some ADV dvds at Half Price Books and Movie Trading Company and they are wanting big $$$ because they are out of print and/or discontinued. If I were you, try checking at garage/yard/estate sales for cheaper prices.

Both ADV and Manga Video are gone while Animeigo (Known largely for BGC) is the only one I know is left from that generation 😩

Thanks Gamera: Guardian of the Universe on VHS! For the longest time Evangelion was this mysterious show that was pushed on Godzilla tape ads and I didn't know it was a mega popular phenomenon in Japan.

I used to watch it on the VHS and seen the cutscene of Animation collection and this brings back old memories when I was a kid and that do it now music it sounds awesome that's why anime so much

I never thought that in 2022, with the overabundant access to anime that we have now, I would be looking through old ADV promos like this to find "new" stuff to watch. I'm thankful for all these obscure and underappreciated 80's and 90's OVA's, overlooked movies, and lesser known series. I passed on so many cool-looking OVA's over the years due to so many having too far under a 7.0 average rating, not anymore. There are some real hidden gems, or at least enjoyable quick watches.

I remember this Preview on VHS film of Gamera: Guardian of the Universe. My Love for Kaiju Films as a child led me to loving Anime.

For ADV, Evangelion was a best seller at that time. Every release was always good business for them, so of course they were going to keep pushing it.

They would showcase one anime at the end of the opening seizure storm on each new release of the trailer, which would change per random VHS you bought.

Ya, me too bro. My GF is a Brazillian lawyer and I just saw a folder in her email out of the corner of my eye, labeled ADV. It's short for Advogado, Portuguese for lawyer, but IMMEDIATELY I heard this song in my head and here I am lol.

long time ago my cousin got me hook on anime and seen some anime horror as well but if try to watch a American horror movie after watching anime for long time they are not that scary to watch anymore you just sit thinking what you saw in anime you see a demon get it rear end handed to him but you never that in a horror movie lol ....

Is it just me, or did 20th Century Fox miss a massive opportunity to buy up ADV Films during its prime. A lot of Fox's movie properties up to this point were really dark and gritty, as were ADV's offerings. It seemed like a perfect match back then.

NOSTALGIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least ADV survives in Sentai Filmworks....... Central Park Media, Urban Vision, US Renditions, Manga Entertainment and all others are dead
