In Latin, the word government literally means mind control. In Greek, the word government referrs to steering a ship with a rudder. Either way, we're talking about someone else or a group of people controlling others. External government is slavery and organized crime. The only acceptable form of government is self governance. ⚖️

Exploring deeply into this topic showed me things I didn't expect. Even if you were a non violent pacifist. For instance, would you allow people you love to be injured or killed if crazed fools attacked? Probably not. If they were trying to kill, you would have to stop them immediately and permanently in this situation. So defensive violence and even killing is acceptable and understandable sometimes. So, now what happens when our successful defense has left one person dead and two more in hospital and his family and friends are attacking again for revenge, and what they would perceive as justice! Now a conflagration of violence begins with all parties believing they are in the right! Any violence can quickly escalate it seems. Every violent attack feels justified by every attacker. We need to understand that. The bad guy is ALWAYS the other guy! Real martial arts is learning the kata of living in such a way that violence is avoided before it even happens. This is the ultimate block from all attacks. ✌🏻🧡

Defining “violence” as doing harm or willing creating suffering, my position that violence is not a bad thing comes from my position that suffering is not a bad thing. I do believe that there is a “proper order” to things and that we should avoid unnecessary suffering, but I see trying to avoid all suffering as creating more harm than embracing suffering as another aspect of life. My philosophy of violence when it comes to persons in specific is only using it to stop violence, by that I mean stopping people force to coerce someone or go against their consent.

My question is what is the definition of just po as a prefix? I'm not satisfied with googles answers. There has to be something more to it. So many words start with po. For instance poly & pol are a prefix but they too start with po. PO seems to be the prefix to me. So many words start with po. Poach, police, poor, potent, polite, poetry, podcast, poison, etc. So what does po mean?
@NATHANOLOGY3 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for this question. ‘Po-‘ on its own is actually not a prefix - in this case there is no prefix, just the main root of the word, POL-, connected to Greek polis as described here. The pol- root in its most ancient form, from which there are derivatives throughout the indo European languages, is *tpolh-, originally meaning citadel or fortress. I can see how you thought it may have been a prefix, but in this dawn it’s not one :)

@@NATHANOLOGY Thanks for replying & explaining! It's just odd how so many words start with po but it's not a prefix. Potential, power, poet, popular, postal, portable, porcelain... for example.
@NATHANOLOGY3 ай бұрын
@@hightreestess It's a good point! One of the reasons for the apparent presence of common prefixes is that the po- spelling is sometimes assimilated into English spelling from various different languages. For instance "potential" is from Latin roots, whereas "poet" is from greek, and in greek in would actually start with pi & omicron. ...Secondly, most root elements in Indo European are chiefly driven by their consonants -- E.g. the P and L sound in pol- , whereas the vowel "grade" (the aperture of the mouth between consonants) tends to vary and be less stable over time
@hightreestess3 ай бұрын
@@NATHANOLOGY Awesome. Great explanation. I take it your name is Nathan? Thanks for your timely thoughtful replies! I was researching further about po & found out that in Slavic po is a prefix. In Bulgarian po means more & Polish po could mean several. Language & etymology studies are fun. 🤗

You forgot ment which is mind government means control of the mind. - and it has no relation to cyberspace.
@NATHANOLOGY3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. The Latin noun root "ment" does indeed mean mind (from the noun mens/mentis), but in this case it's unrelated. The -ment suffix here is simply a neutral noun-forming suffix that shows up in many words (e.g. judgement, sentiment etc.). It's a common misconception that government means "mind control". This guber- does in fact relate to the greek kyber- as noted here. ...That said, it doesn't mean the government isn't trying to control our minds! That may be the case, but not etymologically.
