Clear as mud to me. Seriously I dont understand wth they are talking about. The law says the checks have to be done on firearms that are sold at gun shows or have been advertised for sale and all sales that need a background check have to have a waiting period unless of course they are to family members or of course to LE etc etc ( this one REALLY annoys me as if life long firearm owners are 2nd rate citizens to public servants). So my question is can I or can I NOT sell my firearm collection to my 35 yr long time friend who already owns many firearms and who like myself has held several Federal Firearm Licenses in the past. I think forcing people to PAY to sell their LEAGALLY acquired firearms smells pretty fishy and cant help but wonder if money changed hands somewhere along the line, after all the going rate in the Augusta area for a transfer of a firearm thru a dealer is $35 EACH FIREARM . So I have 10 firearms I need to sell so I can EAT , each one is worth $100 and I will have to lose $ 350 . NICE I bet the dealers are jumping for joy...no price was set in this legislation for the transfers all it says is a REASONABLE fee. Its just another example of this majority parties lust for punishing the innocent for the crimes of the guilty, they do it all the time and firearm owners are a favorite target. Make no mistake this is the result of the Lewiston tragedy the gun haters took full advantage of the sadness ambulance chasers one and all. If Governor Lepage had been voted in this would not have happened. Innocent people like myself would not be punished for the states INCOMPETENCE in handling their famous red, yellow blue whatever law they were all so proud of passing.

Private sale is still legal in maine and if you are privately selling your firearms to a family member or a friend you are not required to do any sort of waiting period. just write them a bill of sale. the only thing the 72 hour waiting period applies to is if you are doing an actual FFL transfer. Hope that helps answer your question and concerns.. I am not apart of One Force. I am just very informed prior military and pro gun activist!

@@christopher1047 Thank you for trying to help but I think you are mistaken. All private sales with the exception of sales to family members now require a background check, if a background check needs to be done than the 72 hr waiting period does also. There is NO exception for FRIENDS long time or otherwise written in the law . When firearms are transferred thru a federal firearm dealer these firearms are required by federal law to be entered into the dealers inventory book it is not permitted to use the federal background check system otherwise. Once in the book the forms to use the system can be filled out, IF, the check comes back proceed all is well but the dealer is still required to wait the 72 hrs for transfer. IF the background check comes back DENIED the dealer can NOT transfer the firearms to the buyer AND a background check will have to be done on the SELLER before he can get his guns back. In the meantime the dealer is in possession of firearms that are neither his and he can not transfer and that he doesnt want to take responsibility for. Its easy to see why the dealers charge $35 ea ....its a ROYAL PITA...AND THAT IS THE INTIRE POINT OF THESE NEW LAWS. THE PEOPLE THAT VOTED THIS STUFF IN DID SO TO PUNISH ALL FIREARM OWNERS. THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT SUICIDE PREVENTION.

Hello One Force. Love your videos !! Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the 24hr waiting period does not start until you fill out your background check and it comes back approved.

Hello! Thank you for the love on our videos! It's a 72 hour hold that starts at the agreement of purchase between the buyer and seller of the firearm, it does have to overlap with the 44-73 form, but not start with it.
