Loved that schedule back in the 80's that he mentions: 7-7:30pm Mon-Fri for the single episodes and Saturday at 11pm till sign-off for a whole story. In the early 90's, they showed early black and white episodes including the entire War Games before KTEH's broadcasting rights ran out which i recorded off air.

It's funny how, I wasn't too crazy about the 2nd Doctor initially, but he grew on me after a while, then I really started to like him.

Back when you could watch Doctor Who for free... over the air... on public television. I grew up in Northern Jersey, so this is near and dear to my heart! NJN was so into the series, and I watched (or recorded) the show every Saturday night!

The Joke back then(80s before his passing). There was only 5 surviving stories in full with the actor and his tenure and they didn’t even air until his passing here in the U.S. Fans at the time still knew nothing of him as the Doctor but he had a lot of energy and enthusiasm to both promote the series and the 2nd Doctor.

Was Patrick Troughton in the "The Navy Lark"? Loved that show as a kid. I do remember that Jon Pertwee was in it. Sunday lunches all sat round the table. Does that still happen? I think it was 2pm? And at 4pm was Alan 'Fluff' Freeman with the Top 40 or was it Top 20? "Greetings, Pop Pickers". Jean Metcalfe and Cliff Michelmore with Family Favourites - I'm thinking it was for overseas forces? My memory is not what it used to be. Mind you it's always been atrocious.

I met Patrick Troughton when he was playing the Doctor and I was just 14 years old. He wasn't in the least put out by being stared at by a very young fan. I was so tongue-tied I couldn't get a word out. But he was very kind.

NJN was right down the street from our house. Came in clear as a bell. My wife and I often volunteered there during beg breaks. Made some life long friends there in '86.

Does anyone remember a children's television programme called "The Box of Delights", Patrick Troughton had a role in the drama, it was broadcast at the end of 1984. I would recommend it.
