I like it how they don't quite reveal the full head to toe of the infamous gold bikini/ slave girl outfit in these trailers. That was quite a shrewd and canny move.

The interesting thing is that the teaser trailer never made it into the DVD release of the film. Like they didn't run out of space on a DVD, they likely took one look at the teaser trailer and went "yeah, screw that."

The Japanese and Western marketing are night and day apart; the former nails the whimsical tone of the franchise, whilst the latter tries to portray it as an extreme, cool film. I get WHY they went with this approach (Mewtwo Strikes Back WAS famous as the first Pokemon anime project to be released in the wake of the Pokemon Shock* incident, after all, so after the delay they might as well market it as part of the hip cool fad) but it hasn't aged well to be honest. *Pokemon Shock: that time Pokemon was introduced to the wider world in the worst way possible by giving kids seizures, changing the entertainment landscape by making people think twice before putting in flashing lights in their films and shows and becoming a cultural punchline. In fact, 4kids Entertainment's main focus with their dub was mainly on banning the seizure-inducing episode and toning down the flashing lights in the remainder to prevent a similar incident from happening in the west.

If you're wondering about the game... It was my first Spyro game. 2020, before I became a victim of the AWooGaCk. I played it through emulating the PS2 versions of it and its 2007 sequel The Eternal Night, and it was a fantastic entry point. It's like a cupcake; short but delicious. Of course, I do feel that the Insomniac trilogy is better, but Legend: A New Beginning still holds up.

that first theatrical teaser went HARD, also shows how much of an eleventh hour change the prologue was seeing as this one features all of the Viking footage instead of the final destruction of Atlantis we see in all the subsequent trailers (and the finished film, natch)

When I first saw the trailers for this movie, I thought it would be just another adventure of the Eds. I didn't expect it to be the last we would ever see of this show. Looking back, it's kind of sad knowing that this weekend-long marathon was probably the last time we'd ever see this show on TV again. You know that the show ending is necessary, but at the same time, it doesn't feel like it is.
