Dude. As a musician, this is absolutely insane to just hear that someone I am heavily inspired by has had so many of the same thoughts and experiences creating and consuming music that I have. the whole serious vs. funny balance is something I am constantly thinking about.

also, i think that Sound & Fury performance is one of the best things i've ever seen from Deafheaven. it's so visceral, but it kinda makes me sad the circumstances around it and how everyone was either feeling about it or treating the situation.

Hello. Would it be possible to get a message to Cole? It'd really mean a lot to me if I knew that this message had reached him. I am 5 months sober after 8 years of addiction. Throughout my time using, and my time getting clean, diiv and other projects he has worked on have played the background music to my life. Times where I was too messed up to think and process how I felt, he would say it for me in a song, and I would be able to see it right there and feel reminded that I was still human and still had the ability to feel. I just want him to know that he is a beautiful person who makes beautiful music and it's his music that has acted as a kind of emotional crutch for my soul to use as I learn to live again. Thanks for being alive dude, you're an inspiration.

"Subversive" music is surviving solely because of the fruits of capitalists. The alternative is to remain unknown because of angst ridden pimple faced granola munching eternal victim hippie pussies who can't afford shit.
