ohhh boy. zane lover here who's spent wayyy too long thinking about his character!! prepare for a big word dump. Small thing at 2:14 ---- if I remember right, we do see Zane playing games in the first episode of S2 in DR. Though your point still stands, considering that Zane didn't understand Kai going "Eat that, Nindroid!", despite having gamed with him since S1 (and probably has heard worse) so, he may as well not have played a single game since haha :) I agree with a lot of your points, though I do have a few thoughts and slightly differing opinions. I think that Zane's character really struggled post S3. Him gaining titanium skin is, in my opinion, when his personality began to change into being more robotic than human. After PIXAL was put into his head, most of his perspective changed into a 'robotic' analysis of what was happening, therefore making his contribution in most episodes just exposition. His robotic skin gave the show an easy way to put in some jokes (Jay messing with his voice in S5, for example) and as an easy way to find information (Him getting information about Nadakhan) so most of his screentime was changed into that. You can also see how his dialog begins changing, going from "I do not know, but I sense that Sensei is going to keep us here if we don't work together and find an answer." to "The sewer network is old and can only sustain so much weight. But after adding up all of our combined masses, the pipes will hold by the slimmest of margins." Even the falcon got a robotic upgrade after S4, and was no longer Zane's mysterious falcon friend who was the last thing he had of his father---but instead was turned into a more dramatic way of texting. I think that Sons of Garmadon is the most 'zanelike' that we actually see Zane since Rebooted. He has a fair amount of screentime that's unrelated to him being a robot, while still using creative ways for his nindroid nature to progress the plot. Some examples of this are his mission infiltrating the SoG, him being super cute with PIXAL, and his hologram disguise thing. His dialog is also better, with even his more robotic questions coming out more human, and aren't wrapped in 2952185 robotic phrases. "What is a... party pooper?" "Did they hurt your eyes?" (Though of course, this is the season when the Falcon properly stopped showing up, so, they can't all be winners.) ...then, of course, the 11min era happened. In their attempt to give Zane a focus season, they made him have the least amount of screentime, the most unsatisfactory and rushed ending, and then they shoved it under the carpet. I really do think that it had potential, but with the 11min era ruining most of the characters, Zane's character really struggled and was never given any opportunity to recover itself, unlike Cole, Jay, Nya, Lloyd for the most part, and even Wu. Prime Empire had Detective Zane---really hammering into the fact that his character was in shambles and horribly inconsistent. He's been a genocidal emperor for 60 years, and then the next thing he does is become a silly detective? Yeah, okay, whatever. As much as I *do* like that episode, it really just shows that they had no idea what to do with him, so they borrowed the same joke from S5 of him with a silly voice. They obviously needed some kind of of contract from his silly-ness, so they made him even more robotic. That way when he does become 'silly' theres a contrast. Then crystalized.... I don't think I can even say anything about it without screaming, so.... Welp. I unfortunately do not have the same positive outlook about Dragons Rising, and am trying my best not to get my hopes up about him being on the box. While yes, he has been shown to be a little bit more human with PIXAL, every other aspect of his character is.... not great. The second he came back in EP9 I knew it was going to be bad. His introduction was terrible, being the only character to not get any kind of reunion hug, having barely any reaction to having been powered off for YEARS (i'll never forgive this scene lol) and you'd think that him losing the Zane Alike Competition would progress his character, but after his "Did the Merge change me? Am I not the Zane I once was?" line, (which is not at all what his takeaway should've been, it should've been "Why do people see me so unhuman? Have I always been this way? Is that all I am?") He completely forgets about it, and it's never brought up again. He has no reaction to Jay, no reaction to Kai being banished. So yes, he does seem more emotional with PIXAL, but that's practically the only time he ever is. Even if this is all buildup for some grand-arc in S3, i'd really hope that he would at least have more emotional reactions and then repress them---rather then have the show be like "Aha! But his extra-robotic nature was just setup!" because, yeah, maybe, but every line of his filled me with rage. All except one, which I will give credit towards, of him saying that he improved efficiency of the Administration by "nearly nine percent!" and getting excited over it, which iI do think is a very pre-s4 thing for him to do, haha. ANYWAY. im so sorry for this becoming so much longer. ive been wanting to make my own video essay about zane for awhile now and never got around to it, so im just taking out all my thoughts in this poor comment section. if you made it this far, then i apologize deeply for my rambles, and you probably compensation. This was a fantastic video essay and I loved so many of the points that you mentioned and brought up, and I'm happy to see people talking about this!!! Overall 10/10 experience :)

I’m kind of a little bit disappointed that ninjago crystallized was the end of classic ninjago but I’m glad that ninjago still continued after crystallized into ninjago dragons rising I really loved ninjago dragons rising because I loved seeing master Wu actually gone missing and Lloyd get his character development of becoming a teacher to full fledged ninja master to a new generation of ninja’s being arin sora and wildfire and it was a perfect continuation of Lloyds character development from a teacher to master that was hinted of Lloyd being on the path of earning the ninja master title sence ninjago poccession to hands of time from sons of garmadon now to ninjago dragons rising with master Lloyd garmadon finally being ready to become a full fledged ninja master that was hinted at from master Wu sence ninjago poccession and Lloyd finally being ready of the master title was great justice to the character of master Lloyd Lloyd garmadon in dragons ring but what I like more about Lloyds arc as master in dragons rising season 2 part 2 is that in ninjago tortament of elements it was master garmadon in charge leading Lloyd and the ninjas into the tortament of elements and now in ninjago dragons rising season 2 part 2 its master Lloyd garmadon who is in charge looking after the ninjas and leading the ninjas into the tortament of sorces that I believe was a great full circle moment of Lloyds growth from a teacher to a master as the main leader of the ninjago team it was a great continuation and a great full circle moment for master Lloyd garmadon and I can’t Wait to see more of it in ninjago dragons rising season 3 part 1 whenever it comes out because this was great justice to the character of master Lloyd Macgomery garmadon in ninjago dragon’s rising and was a great full circle moment for master Lloyd garmadon

I definitely think Wyldfyre comes from the future I think she is the child of Kai and Skylor sent to the past to the ninjas combat Rase’s master or the forbidden five. Also due to her being seen to the past and the merge happing she got the power of heat instead of inheriting Kai or Skylors powers.

14:38-14:58 facts also ya ninjago is a kids show no matter how quote on quote dark it gets like dang just say you don’t watch 18 plus movies and shows because even though I love the oni and dragon trilogy it’s not that dark. Edit if it was up to me Ninjago would have ended with season 10 took a 1-2 year break got a new voice for Cole a returned with Dragoons Rising.
