I really don't care which one looks better, I just want to watch the same version I did growing up because that's how I remember it looking

I understand your approach and your reasoning - but I diverge when it comes to keeping in some of the truly horrible filler, bloat and dredge. I'm a much bigger fan of the "Cardinal Cut" which actually did trim the 3 bloated films into 1 film. But to each their own!

When you separate skin tone from overall color of the scene it looks odd and fishy.

I do not miss the theatrical grade at all. After I learned there was a difference, I rented the version with the theatrical grade because everyone talked about how much they hated how it changed in later versions, but honestly, the newer grade feels so much better to me. I love the tint and darkness of the newer versions. It adds a really appropriate mood to the story that I love. I think flatter, whiter grades are much more boring and a missed opportunity to add atmosphere.

Young DP here - this is excellent advice. Explains all of the most important concepts very clearly. At 6:13 I laughed out loud because early in my journey I tried to light scenes this way and just didn't have enough light output/equipment to make it work. A lot of the job is just problem solving and you've left the audience with a toolkit to solve those problems. Bravo!

When Obi-Wan brings Luke to his home, the audience literally gets more exposition in 90 seconds than the entire sequel trilogy offers in its runtime and in a format that doesn't even break the internal logic of the scene and the characters and actually makes us /care/ about those characters and how they relate to the overarching plot of the film.

The makers of the movie are making another one. It's not a direct sequel to Prospect but it'll be set in the same universe. Their social media's usually go by the name 'fringedrifters' or 'the fringe'.

Well, well, well. What a fantastic lesson. Tactics & objectives as well as beats, though the latter means something slightly different, are all used when teaching conducting at university in music school. Every work has its own peculiar interpretation or plan with each conductor. But this has definitely helped me to understand how scenes across films are planned & developed. Very interesting, Chris.✅

I would be upset if they replaced the scene where Bilbo finds the ring. I prefer the original version so much more because its creepy. It's dark, grey, Bilbo looks more how I imagined him in the book, and Gollum's screams sound more disturbing. Gollum in Fellowship I'd argue is creepier and less cute than his design in TwoTowers/ROTK/Hobbit. Just my opinion.
