Do you get a visa stamp on your passport (transit visa) or just they give you such card mentioned at the begining of your video without stamping your passport with a qatari transit visa entry ?

Thank you! Yes I did, I went straight to the counter (near the Teddy Bear) as soon as I arrived to book the next tour available. I didn’t want to book online coz I wasn’t sure if my flight will be delayed arriving Doha.

Yes that is correct. Eg. If you take the 3pm tour, you’d be back in the airport by 6pm.

When I was there, we met at the tour desk about 1hr 15min before the tour start time and the staff led all of us through immigration. The 2-hours is more so to make sure everyone in the group has sufficient time to get through immigration. I was also concerned about this 2-hour requirement so I decided to wait till I arrive Qatar airport to sign up for the next tour available.

My check in luggage was checked all the way to my final destination so I only had a backpack. However, you can bring your luggage and store it under the bus during the tour.

I booked the tour when I arrived at Qatar airport. We were given a time to meet at the tour desk, then the staff guided us through immigration.

We went in mid-October which was close to the end of the season. May is actually one of the best month to go to Santorini without the high season crowds. Oia may still be crowded regardless but try going earlier in the morning to avoid crowds.

How did you go about picking the company you went with? I've been spending time researching and there seems to be a number of flight operators. We are looking to go in May after visiting Bhuatan and would like to go with the most reputable company. It's been somewhat hard to determine what company offers the best pilots and/or safety.

He was very responsive and helpful, and managed to arrange a charter for our group of 4 for a pretty good price so we decided to go with him. Hi, thank you for the video and excellent info. If will take Business Class and we arrive at 1700 pm pray on time with 10 hours layover, how long would you give before we took this tour? We not sure how long transit time to the Discover Qatar tour desk. Right now we there is 1900, 2000 and 2130 (3) hour tours. Thanks

Thank you! They usually require guests to sign in at the tour desk least 2 hours before the tour to allow enough time to get through immigration. You may be able to make it for the 7pm tour but I’d recommend waiting till you arrive at Doha airport to sign up for the tour to be safe.

It is before security. The giant teddy bear is at the main terminal (airside). If your flight arrives at the gardens terminal you can take the train inside the airport to get to the main terminal. After you sign up for the tour, the staff will lead you through immigration.

@@shadowking8223 For the first stop at Doha Cormiche (waterfront), we had a 10 min photo stop. 2nd stop Katara Cultural Village was about a 30min stop (tour guide walked us around the area), last stop at Souq was about an hour in total, incl. 30min for us to walk around ourselves so you should have enough time to buy souvenirs at the Souq.

You are welcome! For our 3pm tour, we were asked to meet at the tour desk around 1.45pm, which was less than 2 hours. The 2 hours is to make sure that everyone has sufficient time to get through immigration. I was also worried about the 2 hours so I chose to book the tour in person after arriving (instead of booking online).

@@laura.sharon The bus can fit 30-40 people and shouldn’t be full so you should be fine waiting till you arrive to book the tour. I booked the tour after arriving at the airport and there were less than 10 ppl on our tour

I used credit card to pay for the tour at the counter upon booking. I believe it was charged using the local currency. You'd have to use the local currency in the market, and the tour guide told us where the atm machine was.

It looks like you perhaps have the Aspire card. When you booked the standard room thru 4+1 with points, did you have to pay additional to get upgrade to overwater villa? (If so, how much was it?) Or was the upgrade free due to diamond status?

Yes we had the Aspire card, which was great with the Diamond status and resort credit. We were lucky to receive a complimentary upgrade to the overwater villa upon arrival, which I believe was due to the Diamond status and the fact that we were celebrating our anniversary. :)

According to the website you should have at least 8 hours layover to go on the transit tour, but if your flight happen to arrive Doha early, you can try to go to the Tour Desk as soon as you land to ask if they’d let you sign up for it.

Thanks! You could probably squeeze in 2 tours if the timing works out for you (e.g. 4-hr DISCOVER THE DESERT AND INLAND SEA, 3-hr DISCOVER DOHA). You can book the tours online ahead of time, but I'd suggest to just wait till you arrive at the airport and book at the tour desk (just in case your flight delays). As for the transit visa, I don't think you'll need one but you can double check here based on your nationality. visitqatar.com/intl-en/practical-info/visas/visa-details Based on my experience, the Discover Qatar staff will take care of it by providing you a slip of paper, which you will use to get through immigration. The staff will gather everyone at the tour desk (near the teddy bear) then lead you through immigration. As soon as you land, go straight to the tour desk (it's in front of the teddy bear) to sign up for the tour.
