Great photography, however, the airplane wreckage IS NOT a B-29. It is the wreckage of a Japanese Kawanishi H8K seaplane. The allies designated the air craft "Emily" It was the largest and considered the best flying boat of WW2. The wreckage is located near Tanapag, where the Japanese had a seaplane base. In 1976, I spent 6 days on Saipan, and dove the Emily. A native Siapanese gentleman named Ben Conception was our dive guide. at the time I was there, the original seaplane ramp was still there, and remnants of the base was visible. We suited up on shore, and waded down the ramp into the water. The wreckage looks much the same as when I was there. The gun turret at 17:53 was the nose turret. You can google the H8K and see the turret in pictures. When I was theree, the top turret complete with its 20.mm cannon was in the sand but I do not see it here. It is a fascinating dive. after the dive, Ben explained that the Emily was taxing out when it hit a mine that had been placed by US Navy frogmen. The Emily was blown apart in the explosion. I spent an entire afternoon snorkeling around the 1st Sherman tank you showed. I met an American woman who knew the history of the tank. During the invasion, the Sherman's engine stalled, and the crew had to abandon it and swim ashore. she said the Sargent in command of the Sherman survived, and was a car salesman in St.Louis!

I went to Maui, Hawaii in 1996 with my family. As a young child I remember snorkeling with my dad and being in awe of the incredible color and diversity of coral. It was like an alien planet and I was amazing that florescent greens, pinks and purples could even exist in that way. I went back for the first time in 2017. Now with my wife and expecting to show her the magical underwater world I had found at a young age., all I saw was sand and bare rock.

I was on Deigo 72-73. NMCB62. Beautiful place. Use to swim on the point side never in the lagoon because of the number of shark and stonefish sightings. Thanks for sharing. At 70 it brings back many fond memories.

I was stationed on Deigo, 72-73 while attached to NMCB62. We were the second SeaBee battalion on station. We would snorkel and ride the wave on air mattresses off the point, Cannon point. Sharks, rays, barracuda, parrot fish, groupers. It was beautiful. The only thing we were really concerned about were Stonefish and coconut crabs. If I am not mistaken the first ray you are swimming with is at the 35’ +- point just before the drop off into what we called the abyss. Thanks for the walk down memory lane! Love your background music.
