I paid $25 US for mine "used" even though it was brand new. Turned mine into a field trauma/medical kit. Thinking about getting one or two more for another LBE project.

Those aren't mag pouches, They are pouches for spare filters for the GSR

NO ITS NOT. I MOLLIED THAT POUCH ON, IT DIDN'T COME WITH ANY POUCHES. THE SPARE CANS HAVE THEIR OWN HOUSING INSIDE THE FIELDPACK THE POUCH I PUT ON WAS FROM THE SA80.

certainly the first time ive seen that being worn that way. most of the time, its thrown under the top flap of a bergan, or strapped on with the waist and leg strap. usually never gets used for anything other than the GSR

THE GSR FIELD PACK HAS MOLLE TO ATTACH TO THE FRONT OF BODYAROUR OR BELT ORDER. CHECK OUT THE LINK TO FACT CHECK YOURSEL.talesfromthesupplydepot.blog/2017/08/24/gsr-haversack/ As I clearly said in the video, it can be repurposed for the hobbyist (Such as metal detecting) was my example.

As I said in the video, try threading the webbing strap thru the D loops of the GSR bag.

Hi Bex, hope you are well. I have one of these. I find it great to hang from the chest strap D rings of your ruck sack with a pair of carabiners, as a chest pack/ rig. Helps to balance you out, too, and easy to detach when needed. All the best.👍🏾😉🇬🇧

Hi bex, wondering what happened to your channel... How's ya back doing mate.?? Great to see you again 👍😎
@Surplus-OnlyАй бұрын
The main channel is still there airing videos every Friday, but is due end very soon, & replaced by 2 other sister channels, with (Surplus Only) being one of them. bexbugoutsurvivor is filmed a year in advance, and I haven't filmed anything for many months now, and when the remaining episodes are aired the channel will close. My back is ok but on very strong meds with heavy side effects. The second part of the social experiment will restart bexbugoutsurvivor in October 2025 with 36 episodes, and the more familiar (bexbugoutsurvivor) content moved to membership or Patreon. OTHER CHANNELS I OWN. bex-treks (Lightweight camping) bexbugoutsurvivor (Original ideas) none mainstream thinking. Surplus Only (Military kit) displayed without personal opinion. An announcement will come soon to all subscribers.

Hi Bex. Hope you are well. These boots were really common, in the early ‘80’s. I bought a couple of pairs for beach fishing down Chesil in Dorset. Great boots for shingle, as nothing would get caught in the treads. I probably only paid a fiver for them back then as, like you say, they were not the comfiest of boots, but fine if you just wanted something to throw on. Hope you are well, all the best.👍🏾🇬🇧

I think there's a bit of a mindset thing with it, Most people load up a pack with the idea of 'I carry it from here to here and back', Whereas the military outlook is 'I carry it to here, then here, then leave nonessentials at the harbour and continue on further...' You need your guts with you and can manage to function perfectly well without the fluff. Belt order is guts, Bergen is fluff... 😂🤘

Hello Bex ! Question: Is there a difference in size / hight between a waterbottle and a utility pouch ? I have the crusader Mk I cooker and like to hear which pouch you recommend ! Atb from Germania Juergen
@OldNavajoTricks2 ай бұрын
I recently got some Desert Dpm kit and the WB is slightly larger than the large utility but doesn't have a collar on it. Woodland Dpm, especially the older non-Molle variants may be different. 🤘🙂

Nice video mate - I actually put together and started using my webbing after watching one of your videos last year. Rather than having all that weight on my shoulders its such a pain reliever to have it on my hips! Always get one or two comments from people about 'preparing for a war' etc yeah yeah whatever to them! Keep the content coming, really enjoy it. Cheers pal

Never use detergent on gore-tex. Let the dirt dry and use a stiff brush. Turn it inside out and repeat.

I finally found one here in the usa. Basically in like new condition. Red mp badge, and obviously the union jack. These are very hard to find in like new/new condition, atleast in my area of the world. Also found a name tape, pencil, and a AA battery in the pockets 😂. I can never find them in crap condition even in my size (medium) , so I HAD to buy this when I saw it today. Said $60.99 on the tag, but when she rang it up it said $39.99.

Ey up. I own the trousers and also the newer MTP waterproof jacket and whilst I think they're great, cheap to buy and certainly keep you dry (if looked after) I do find one downside, they're definitely not as breathable as my gore-tex pro jacket... but then I only paid £35 for the MTP waterproof jacket as opposed to £400 for my gore-tex pro jacket so there's definitely many benefits to the military issue ones.

This sort of stuff was 'GUCCI Kit' when I was in, the only drawback is you cant do admin in them like you can under a poncho in bad weather, they appeared about the time of the 'bouncing bomb' sleeping bags and were in OG rather than DPM when they were 1st issued at least in my unit, but blokes preferred to buy their own ones that had a zip down the side for a quick exit for the usual reason :/
@Surplus-Only3 ай бұрын
Bivvy bags are intended to be used in conjunction with the basha head shelter, plenty of room for admin and cooking etc. There is a full video on my old bouncing bomb, and Marines Arctic Bergen, on my sister channel.

there's an in service autobiographical book Falklands Commando written by sn Officer in 29 battery (Royal Marines) Royal Artillery, very informative about operating in the terrible climactic conditions etc on the back cover it had a 'subtitle' Green Slugs (bivvy bags) and rat packs, this was a reference to the sight of the Commandos bivvied up on the reverse slope overlooking Stanley on the last night

I have a full softie set, but just the top in the new version, never actually seen any trousers though online, at least, not that I’m aware of. How come the new version isn’t as warm, what kit does a soldier wear to make up for the difference in warmth? I got mine for winter camping, although I’ve just invested in a Savotta TST thermal cloak, the insulated one (67g/m2), I figured I’d wear it in camp instead of the softie suit- it is about 100grams less in weight, but, it means I can take a lot lighter sleeping bag because the thermal cloak is also an insulated bivi bag, so I’m saving at least 1.1kg or more, also the the thermal cloak is fully waterproof in the rain (the zip isn’t so you have to sort of fold it around you to prevent ingress. The plus side of the zip is, it lets condensation out when using as a bivi, so although it’s not breathable material, it’s not at all as bad as you would thing it would be, condensation wise).
