hello Vlajko, thanks for the explanation! can you explain in depth how commitment works? we use original estimate for commitment. what if a task rolls over to the next sprint? does the velocity calculate with that original estimate? if we overwrite the original estimate how it changes the previous commitments? thanks!

Very good overview. Will help me in a job interview I've got coming up. I've used other workflow tools and your video means I will be able to discuss Jira in the interview in a meaningful way. Thank you.

Hey, what about the QA work? where would they be allocated? as a task? within an user story? thanks!!
@vlkedu7 ай бұрын
QA work is usually captured using sub-tasks. In general, subtasks can be used to break down any of your standard issues in Jira (bugs, stories, or tasks). That would ensure that all work required to complete a story (or a bug, or a task) is captured in the context of a story (or a bug, or a task). Besides QA work, sub tasks might include coding work, design work or anything else the team thinks should be captured. It is up to the team to decide how granular they want to be.

I've been suffering on youtube for 2hrs till I found this very short, very clear, very rational video. I'm involved in a new project, leader wants to use different tools and platforms I got use to. I was fighting for these hours to understand what is jira, what is confluence, why the same company creates 2 software for one purpose or why they don't join it. This last one I still don't understand, but at least I do now jira, confluence and the collaboration of these 2. Lovely that everyone can make a tutorial, annoying that is makes super hard to find the right one! Thanks Vlajko for your time and effort to create this. If i decide to take a course, I'll definitely join yours.

I don't have roadmap to choose. Jira is always like this.

I don't see it, has this been replaced by timelines? Is there a way to get the 'plan' estimated by story points without putting items into sprints?

I needed to do this date operation for the child items, is it possible? I realized that dependencies are only in epics.

Really grateful for these tutorials, they're helping me cram for an interview. However, gotta say, really hate the one hit theme song w a really long decay on a fake crash that's so much louder than everything else happening in the video. That's just a matter of automating the volume, and can be done p easily ngl. Otherwise thumbs up and I'm subscribing despite that one thing. Thank you for this!

Good video but please explain how you prepared the roadmap presentation at 1:27, that is a great view but I can't see how it can be achieved in the Roadmap. Many thanks
@vlkedu Жыл бұрын
Glad that you liked the video, thanks. The roadmap view you are referring to was created using Roadmunk roadmap tool (roadmunk.com/), not Jira Roadmaps. I agree, it is a great view and I used it to illustrate the difference between roadmaps and Gantt charts. Unfortunately free version of Jira Roadmaps (Basic) does not have that feature. Something similar can be achieved with Advanced Jira Roadmaps (www.atlassian.com/software/jira/features/roadmaps) which come with a monthly fee.

I have Jira Cloud and I couldn't find Roadmap. However, from the menu, there's an Apps option. When I clicked it out of curiosity, and woolah, I found Crystal Gantt...same thing. Vlajko, thanks for sharing about the labels and Dependencies between Epics. This is big. Your video is short and to the point; long videos I can't watch.
why is there a VERY LOUD sound in the beginning compared to the voice of the presenter?

This is just what the doctor ordered! A really excellent overview that answers the questions why do I want these tools and how do I use them together. No extra fluff, just high level information that provided an excellent intellectual platform to start using these tool in a detailed manner.
