The fact is, they weren't as widely hated as what people like to believe. That was just the loudest and most obnoxious of the fans.

Literally seeing the comments shit talking about the movie, it's May 2024 & the movie was just re released in theaters & made 14 million for its limited release. Yeah sounds like people changed their minds over the years.

Just came here to look at some of the most poorly aged comments, its funny that people who didn't have a clue about Episode 1 like to attach meanings to little snippets of the actors praising Lucas and the film simply because they can't make logical sense of their own petulant disdain for the movie. TPM was great, it was always great. You guys wanted George out, he left and we got Disney so when you complain about the Sequels just remember you clowns asked for it.

This comment section has preserved comments showing how unpopular the prequels were. As Disney found, they had the impossible task of trying to recreate the magic of the OT, something George Lucas himself never did, and after TLJ did the most George Lucas thing and took risks with the story, the fandom turned on Disney too lol An endless spiral

Americans like a redemption story, plus a lot of the youth who would have liked any type of spectacle with light sabers are of age now. It sucked when I saw it, in fact it was so horrible I was convinced my podunk theater go the wrong reel of some Star Wars spoof. I saw it again in a major city and I realized Lucas just didn't have it anymore. My opinion hasn't changed. I did give Episode 2 a watch in case he learned his lesson, but not so much. After that I stopped caring about Star Wars being released or not.

It still amazes me that there are many who still consider Lucas a film making genius (including Lucas himself). Other than “American Graffiti” which pretty much fell all upon his shoulders, and having the basic idea for “Star Wars” (although he had the help of many to make it happen including the writing of the story), everything else that he’s attempted to do has been a train wreck. Just mention “The Star Wars Christmas Special” and “Howard The Duck” to Lucas and see the reaction on his face.

The prequels were good fun. Don't expect too much you'll be disappointed. The prequels were adventure swashbuckling films meant to be enjoyed but not taken seriously. Disney has made this Movie Episode 1 a masterpiece in comparision to their SW SJW films.
