Canada is so expensive from the stats I’ve seen! I can’t imagine paying over $1M for a home, I can barely believe my own mortgage 😅 I’m hoping there are more affordable solutions to home ownership, I think in my future I can see myself getting a tiny home. Some of the furniture is not well made but I’ve also had a dresser from Living Spaces for over 7 years that has survived 4 moves so some pieces are well made. I ended up buying a canvas bed 😊

Of course! I booked my hotel in January and the conference/boule was actually in the last week of July. Registration opened in January and I also registered then. For the plane tickets, I got that in May 😅 and the round trip cost was $435 for direct flights with Southwest (I had travel credits for this) 😊

My brother lives 30 mins outside of Paris so I was technically in France for two weeks but I went into the city of Paris 5 days. I’d highly recommend a food tour, you can book it with Secret Food tours (SFT15) gets you a pretty good discount. I’d also recommend the walking tours (they are tip based so at the end you tip the guide as you wish - guidelines is between $10-50 Euros per person). The walking tours go over the highlight of the different monuments as well as the history of the buildings/neighborhoods plus usually the guides tell you the best places to eat. My tip is to use the metro, taxis and ride shares can be very expensive. You don’t need an Uber from the airport it’s actually very easy to just hop on the metro to get into Paris from either airport. If you are trying to buy souvenirs, have cash that way you can bargain (if that’s your thing), also always go down every shop before buying. That way you can price match. There are a lot of souvenir places across from the Louvre that’s actually decently priced. Waiting for the elevator at the Eiffel Tower is not worth it lololol just take the stairs. @@moneyonthegoe yes go to lisbon for sure in June or July. They have live bands play. I was only there for about 4 days but I went to Porto,, lisbon and another city like 3 hours away I forgot the name lol. But everywhere I went I got that dessert. It was addicting one of the things I missed most about portugal is definitely the food.

@@marshachilds9445I really want to take time off and spend an extended time away exploring! I’ll have to add Lisbon on my list for sure and Lolol I get it, when I was in NOLA my thing to get every day was beignets because they were so good. I probably had at least a dozen by myself.

lol, okay so I have heard this before as well and I downloaded Duolingo to learn but I never got around to actually studying. People were super nice and I didn’t need to speak French at all. There was only one rude person at Disneyland Paris who pretended like they didn’t hear my question lmao but I made my brother repeat it in French (they live in France so he’s fluent) and then the person had to answer me 😂

@@moneyonthegoe I have been watching Our Rich Journey for years!! Long before they retired and moved to Portgal. I like The Money Guy Show. They have more higher level concepts which is what I am more into. I have budgeting down (ish), have maxed out a Roth IRA for years (and pretty close to not being able to contribute anymore...sadly), have quite a bit in my 401k/403b. My net worth is higher than the average person 10 years older than myself. Not trying to brag or anything, but just trying to say I graduated from Dave Ramsey many years ago. And I'm just still going knee deep in more advanced financial planning concepts.

I don’t even remember what I was doing at 24 😂 but definitely not with my life together. Congrats on getting your financial life together Here are some bridge thoughts I’ve been using when I’ve been feeling that I need a reset: From thinking/saying “I failed” to “I am resilient”: • “I am resilient and capable of overcoming financial challenges.” • “My past does not define my future.” I’m West African and I definitely am hoping to see more of the world as well! My goal is to do at least one trip each year (I usually try to go around my birthday) and save more of my take home income. A great book that really helped me was: Get Good with Money by Tiffany Aliche Where would you want to go for your next trip?

I know right?! I think in my past I made waaay too many excuses for people, part because of social conditioning and the other because I didn’t yet fully enjoy my own company (aka being single) but now it’s …come correct or don’t come at all 😂

See the Airbnb was…interesting. I don’t understand greed at that level because how are they just comfortable with actual black mold?? They had 5 apts on that floor alone so I know there’s money for improvements 😂 Porto was so beautiful! I’m so glad I had the chance to go 💗

I’m so glad! Porto is really so beautiful, originally I was only going to stay for 2 weeks but I loved it so much I ended up staying for longer 😂 I’d def recommend: seeing Gaia, doing a food tour (or two lol I love food), having a beach day (it’s only 2.5 euros to get to the beach and the 500 bus is in the middle of the town), also visit the wineries!!! You’ll have a blast 😊

@@missmarionlewis It was Iberia, but honestly I blame both them and American Airlines. Originally, I had booked my flight with AA and then they had me transfer over to Iberia because of delays at DFW (I’ll never fly through there again, it’s always a mess). Anywho, I’m still waiting for them to refund me my $500+ dollars because they also returned my suitcase to me damaged 🫠

@@missmarionlewis The thing that did me in was that I did not pack my carry on strategically. I honestly almost didn’t even bring a carry on (always bring a carry on 😂). So if you pack your carry on with some clothes, at least you’ll have something to hold you over while you wait for your luggage. My luggage did eventually get found but it was like 10 days later and I was in Porto and it was delivered to my brother’s house in France so I didn’t see it for weeks. I hope this isn’t your case. You’ll enjoy Porto, it’s so beautiful! Wishing you safe travels ❤

I agree, I definitely don’t want to wait for retirement to see the world. I’m enjoying seeing the world now (within my means) because we never know when we will die. I actually really enjoy my current career, but I don’t want to work 5 days a week forever. My ideal retirement would be flexible in which I can work 1-2 days a week. In my experience, masks have been helpful in reducing my exposure to germs so I continue to use them especially when traveling 😊
