Hey Rob! How could I get a hold of you? I’d like to ask you a couple questions. I’m not sure if you still come to the valley but I’d really like to talk to you.
I just ordered a 560 recently. Cary told me that a batwing wouldn't work, except the one they sell, which is $1800. I can get a RhinoRack BW for like $400. How did you mount it to your bars?
@RollingRob2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I happened to be at factory to get my bars installed. On a 569 they have to be installed in a very specific spot as to not interfere with the opening and closing of roof top fan. Once the bars were installed, you can literally attach anything to it as long as the accessories like the bat wing or shower tank have the hardware to mount onto the most common racks. My suggestion is but quality well known roof racks, that way large number of accessories are made with proper mounting hardware.
@RollingRob2 жыл бұрын
I’m not home and can’t remember the name of the bars, but jet or jet steam is model I believe….or aero stream or something like that, it’s from the number 1 or 2 rook rack/ car rack manufactures. Rhino rack has the hardware that mounts to the too 2 types of bars.

I have somewhat of a mobility issue, and would be camping alone. Would you show us how you can get in with the futon upright, as well as putting the futon up and down? I would love one of these, just not sure if I could do it, I wouldn’t want to order one and find out I couldn’t manage it. They’re not in the any lots that I know of, especially in Washington., to be able to try it out. Thank you for showing us, it gives me encouragement.

The only teardrops I've found with wide doors are Bushwackers, made by Braxton Creek. Unfortunately the quality build of those units is very low, reflected in their price: about $10,000 for equivalent of a non-boondock T@g. But still might be worth looking into for accessibility reasons. Look for 10FB or 10SS models. Good luck!

How thick are the mattress- is it comfortable to sleep on
@RollingRob4 жыл бұрын
About 4 in. thick. I have heard of sone folks adding additional support but it would have to be something that flexes from flat to the bends of sofa. While I live the Vistabule too, I wound up purchasing a Campinn 560 teardrop. It is also a work of art and visited their factory as well. I had trouble converting fed to sofa and back from a wheelchair vantage point and I’m pretty strong. It not about strength it’s just my disadvantage of not standing. Check out my latest video for a peek at the Campinn 560. Absolutely love it’s functionality and craftsmanship!

Awesome adventure! So beautiful. How did the camper work out?
@RollingRob4 жыл бұрын
Dan & Bri's Adventures , Dan it worked out great! Even better than I thought. I thought the stove was going to be a reach for me but it wasn’t, they make these things called handles on pans these days that make it an easy reach from my chair .. ;). Also although I purchased an expensive dometic fridge/freezer that fits perfectly where the stove is, (stove rolls left into its garage, how clever), but it was a reach to get to items inside and you know the dometic does not like to get tilted, so I same up with the Yeti idea. I use one as a fridge and the other for frozen goods. Then I moved the dometic to my tow vehicle, truck and I now gave a constant flow of yeti ice blocks. Every 2-3 days, I get fresh frozen blocks from dometic, transfer to yeti bag with frozen goods, then use those blocks I removed from that chest which are slightly partially frozen but cold, to the bag I use for cold goods, and you guessed it... the blocks i remove from the cooler, go into the truck to get frozen again! It’s a continuous cycle and it works great, no worries to go get ice. Ingenious! Only one exception, had an exciting mountain lion experience, which quickly made me modify where I kept the frozen meat!! It is no longer in my yeti freezer bag in camper with me, it is in the truck, away from me!! The cat can go after the truck, not me I hoped anyway!!! To much to explain here I’m but I will share the text between 2 neighboring ranchers and myself over the course of 2 evenings at the off-grid ranch site I spent a few days at!!! Those cats don’t roar they more like scream... and man that sound carries in that mountain valley I was in and is was roaming around😱 Sounds like its yards away. I was about to grill, but when it made its presence known. I quickly put up my fajitas I had already prepared to grill to perfection, moved all the meat to my truck (that’s when I modified my concept🧐)and scrammed to my camper for the night! 😳 Man I never moved so fast in my life! I thought I must look like a nice compact chicken nugget rolling around in my char. ;) It was a canned beans and wennies night for me instead! My entertainment that evening was peeking out the windows I with my night-scope. Exciting but can’t lie, puckered up! Ha! So much more to share but I will save it for a fireside chat when we meet up one day! Say hi to Bri!
@kellettd24 жыл бұрын

Dan & Bri's Adventures hey dan, first if all, yes I’ve always been prepared for the occasional coyote or even bobcat, but the mountain lion was a game changer, but exciting. Also when you asked about shopping for tires a while back, I meat to tell you I have over 40k miles on them and going strong, and they are the best tires I have ever had...also want to chat later about camping in you neck if the woods.
@RollingRob4 жыл бұрын
Dan & Bri's Adventures Dan I have the BF Goodrich All Terrain k/o I think but anyway Dan I have over 40000 mikes on them and they don’t even look half worn! Not to mention they are the best tires I have ever had on any of my vehicles...My son just bought a new truck and he put some on it and is very pleased, new tread pattern this year than mine, just a bit different. Great ride, great traction...and if your like me, I take care of them rotating them every other oil change ... they last, you get your monies worth !

At the Recumbent Cycle Con, you will see many of the companies that have developed recumbent trikes or quads that you can easily shift on to from a wheelchair. They have the full spectrum of such products on display. Awareness of these specialized products for wheelchair dependent individuals is extremely useful. The next Recumbent Cycle Con will be held in Nashville on October 12 - 13, 2019 at the Nashville Fairgrounds. Taped footage by the Laidback Cycle Report with Gary Soloman will be up on KZbin for viewing not too long afterwards.

You represent a niche market within a niche market. But your niche market might very well end up being LARGER than the original niche market. You are in a position to make suggestions for adapting their trailers for wheel chair reliant individuals. I noticed that you needed a device of some type to be able to reach those coffee cups or the spices behind them. A parallel wire with outwardly pointing ends that would collapse and expand into holes like hinge rods and lift a spice rack up and out so you can bring it down to select from it and place it back the same way when you are done. Endless reach and grab tools can be engineered and some are already in existence.

Great Input!
@StellarFella5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for opening my eyes about how tear drop and other small trailers empower wheelchair reliant individuals. I strongly suggest that you test ride some quality high end recumbent trikes too. They empower you immensely as well. Check out the Catrike Dumont or the Greenspeed folding recumbent trikes. They have arm pedaling trikes too for those who no longer have the use of their legs. The Greenspeed Magnum XL trike and the Scorpion Plus have a higher seat height that makes it easier to transfer from a wheelchair. Just set the parking break. All of these quality recumbent trikes can be easily and specifically adapted for individual physical needs.
@RollingRob5 жыл бұрын
Cecil Treadwell thank you so much! I would really like to chat with you at some point about the recumbents. I had one and enjoyed it very much. When I ran into a young patient that was having a hard time with his new life altering injury, i made contact with his parents and asked if I could gift it to him in hopes it would encourage him to get outdoors and enjoy life. It’s not over, it’s just a new beginning. It was a “top end” I believe, top of the line, had a lot of fun on it but it became very difficult to get in and out if it independently because it was so low to the ground. At that time, I thought my only option was a granny trike with a flower basket up front lol, Much tine has passed so I am encouraged to hear what has evolved since then. Chat with you soon. Take care and thanks again!
@StellarFella5 жыл бұрын
@@RollingRob Check out the videos of the HP Velotechnik Scorpion Plus. It has a seat height of 22 inches above the ground I believe. They have three different maximum seat heights. The Greenspeed Magnum XL trike will hold riders up to 450 lbs. And it can be adapted for hand pedaling. Also, you can subscribe to the Laidback Bike Report and see all their videos on KZbin and see them on Facebook. Gary Soloman did a video with Peter Stull of Alfred Station, New York. He is The Bicycle Man and adapts trikes for individual needs. There are other super experienced trike oriented shop owners around the country who can set you up and advise you about the best models and devices. Watch the videos on the annual Recumbent Cycle Con. Maybe you can attend the next Recumbent Cycle Con depending on where you live. They have wheelchair oriented trikes on display from global manufacturers. Besides higher seats, there are extended handle posts that make the handles higher to grab on to and push lift yourself up more easily and let yourself down more easily too. Also, you can ride a recumbent trike indoors with the rear wheel riding on a heavy duty roller. I am 65 and hate heading out on my bicycle early in the morning because I will be well underway and suddenly need to get to a toilet real quick before I poop my pants. If I was riding inside on rollers, I could stop real quick and take care of business right away. Then, that special danger will have passed for a couple hours anyway. Winter months have such nasty cold weather that you can only ride indoors anyway. Even the late James Dobson pooped his pants a time or two while he was triking across the country. You can trike indoors until you have built up your strength and know your round trip limits. Always have a triking or biking partner. Start to watch these videos starting with the entire Peter Stull Video. Peter is riding a Scorpion Plus when he pulls up and gets the mail out of his mail box. Just after that approximately 30 minute mark, he goes into detail about trike riders with special physical requirements. You can really help get out the word after you absorb all this info and I am sure glad to put you on to it.
@StellarFella5 жыл бұрын
@@RollingRob New high handle posts with a "T" shape at the top give you excellent leverage to hoist yourself up and out of the seat especially when newer models have much higher seats with less of a lean back angle as well. I would hate the feeling of being stuck down low in the seat when I seriously wanted to get up and I couldn't.

Hi! I currently work at a rock wall with a similar adaptive climbing system except ours has a square base at the top to secure the center of gravity instead of the baseball home plate shape this one has. I was wondering if you knew what kind of gear you were using or have the information of the company you climbed with as we are looking to buy another one with a similar base structure

J K hi and thanks for visiting my channel! I really can’t say much about the gear as it was a rental company that places this mobile rock wall and then has employees and or volunteers to help visitors enjoy the climbing experience. Rob, I bet the folks at NüCamp would make you a T@G modified for your needs. They should be able to make re-positioned lights, and perhaps the stove and sink on a pull-out slide. If not, a cabinet maker could do that for you.
@RollingRob5 жыл бұрын
thanks Steven! Yes I wish a manufacturer would offer to modify with a wider door! I could creatively lower the height of the kitchen sink physically with a bit of carpentry or even deflating tires a bit at camp (as long as I carry an dependable inflator which I always do or even better a filled air tank, ready to use). Another method is to dig a small area in front of the tires, just enough to get an inch or two of reduction in overall height. My truck would have no problems pulling it back out even in muddy conditions. Several other ideas rolling around my head! thanks for watching!
