That’s one thing that I don’t understand about Elvis. Scotty, Bill and DJ were an integral part of the Elvis sound and yet he didn’t give them the recognition or monetary compensation they deserved. I continue to wonder why.

Would he have made it out of Memphis? Your joking right? If the Beatles can have 3 rhythm guitars a average drummer and OK vocals would they a have made it out of Liverpool? What a stupid question. Would Scott, Bill and J.D be famous without Elvis? NO. And to put things right: It was Elvis that paid the 3 to keep them because Parker didn't think they were needed, and that's the fact. Your a joke. Elvis was always going to make it, but your to blind to know talent.

Listening to the Richards biography by Victor Bockris about the details of this session. When Levon decided to call up Keith, Scotty remarked, “You watch, I’m gonna drink that SOB under the table.” Keith had flown Scotty to the Voodoo Lounge St. Louie shows. They had a great relationship. Around 10pm, a large van pulls up and out comes Keith, his father, his daughter, his engineers, the shepards pie, Sunkist orange juice and once in the barn the tapes start rolling around midnight. By the morning, Scotty is on the floor almost comatose with his guitar strapped around him but still able to conduct the session lying down. Keith is still standing. Fontana on drums has a bag and catheter attached to him for a kidney problem , to which Keith remarks, “This guy is a real rock and roll soldier!” What’s remarkable is that these band guys are in their 70’s! One of Keith’s best vocals, ever! I’d like to add that the photo montage to the music track is a fine edit. Thanks so much for this great video!

The pics of Keith and Scotty together show the mutual respect and shared spirit. They both backed the greatest front men of their respective eras - so they each know the stress and effort to make them look great.
