Great that you got in to costume for this vlog and plaits too 👍❤️ I don’t know if I ever read this book, but I have seen various adaptations on the TV, most recently Ann with an E? I did enjoy it though, wholesome, moralistic, didactic, survived the test of time, what more do you need from a book. 😊xx

Such a lot going on in this vlog. Birthday books and book shopping. What bliss. I did finish the Lost book shop but I felt as you did, that something wasn’t quite right. I also would have been drawn to the lucky dip bags and I felt you did quite well with the Kate Atkinson novel which I have read it is quite sad if I remember 😢 Politics on the Edge is a book title if you don’t already know by a cabinet minister, so the tote was probably left over from a book launch perhaps. Not that I’ve read it 🤣. Your birthday books look fab also I look forward to seeing how you get on with them all next month 😊❤xx

Really glad you put a couple back on the shelf, and kind of cathartic to actually remove the book marks too. That book by Brandon S looks enormous, I don’t think I could even hold that to read, even if I wanted to. I liked the look of the LGBT+ books you showed for your friend. Is it an actual shop or just a section in a shop? Great vlog as always. ❤

Thanks, Alison 💖 once the bookmarks were out, the pressure was off We've just filmed our video about the Sanderson book and Orla struggled to hold it in our thumbnail pose because it's so big The bookshop is a cafe/bookshop but all the books they sell are LGBT+. Wow the number of times I've missed, or nearly missed the train back from Manchester Victoria to Clitheroe... Usually I've been in the Arndale and was like 'yep it's ok I've got 10 minutes...' then just running for it 😆. Interesting how that copy you have there is titled 'The Wizard of Oz' where it's often called 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'. I have a collection somewhere with all 15(!!) Oz stories yet I don't think I ever read beyond the first (I can never be sure though...). Don't know if you've seen the film 'Return to Oz' but I think that's based on a couple of the other books, and it's pretty messed up! 😅 I love it though.
@LunabirdBookclub12 күн бұрын
I'm glad you can relate to missing a Victoria train 😆 For me it was a combination of pedestrain ways being closed, being absolutely hopeless at navigating, and still not being used to the ao being there. Gosh, I hadn't even clocked the title discrepancy, how odd. I'm assuming it's to make it more similar to the 30s film but idk. I don't think I've seen 'Return to Oz' but maybe I will one day.

Another great vlog ladies. I’m afraid my copy of Dracula was culled from my book collection about a year ago. When I was at uni I thought I might read it, but then I decided not for me and let it go. The pottery painting looked like so much fun and they were all so different I couldn’t possibly choose one. For a book recommendation for you I would suggest The Familiars by Stacey Halls, it is historical fiction my favourite genre, and I suggest it because it is a little bit ‘magical, mystical’ and is set around the time of the Pendleton Witch trials, so you may enjoy it. Not sure if it is an audio book but I have a copy if you want a borrow. Xxxx

I love the wheel of time books and was very excited for the show. I have enjoyed moments of the show but I’m scared they won’t have the scenes the book readers love. One of my favorite scenes from the books is when Mat defeats both galad and Gawyn after barely having been able to walk after dealing with the dagger. This didn’t happen in the show and even though he could still face and defeat them it seems like it lost some of its surprise. I don’t know if I’m making sense. I would love to see Dumai’s wells although in the last episode of season one they seemed to use the “Asha’man kill!” Moment. I’m trying to be optimistic for the show but I have my doubts. I did love the powerfully emotional moment when nynaeve ran through the arch holding her daughter. Very powerful.
@LunabirdBookclub3 ай бұрын
You are making sense and I'm with you in that, I mourn the loss of Mat vs Galad&Gawyn. It might still be in the show, but it would have been epic to see so soon after Mat wakes up in TV. Just been to rewatch the Tarwin's Gap scene from S1 to compare them in my mind. Wow, I'd forgotten how off-script they went with the Fal Dara stuff 🤦🏻♀️. I think the "Asha'man kill!" moment will still work if we get Dumai's Wells (and we must do, it's such a big plot point in the books). The men are all working individually and attacking humans so it still has that sickeningly dark aspect to it instead of the looney-tunes 'splosions and lightning bolts in the S1 finale. Keep that optimism up my friend, we still get to see WoT on screen 🥳
