I'm Brazilian, I'm 64 years old, I grew up listening to Commodores and although the images hadn't arrived in Brazil yet, I always imagined they would be exactly as they are. They are eternal here in Brazil.

Hi. There is a lot of information on the Jewish presence in the Caribbean. Many (if not all) of the Sephardic Jews came from Spain/Portugal after they were expelled in 1492. I have recently become aware that I am a descendant of these people. photos.app.goo.gl/cnsXPmA3SVv52yfd9

Thanks for the link and your video was helpful for my project. I’m looking at the different waves of Portuguese immigrants, mainly to T&T and the wider Caribbean. I’ve been perusing the writings by Jo Anne Ferreira and others. So far, unlike Guyana, Barbados, Cuba etc, there is little evidence of the kind shown in pics you sent, in Trinidad. Apparently, many immigrants were also persecuted Protestants in Madeira, namely Presbyterians who eventually dwindled and became part of the Catholic population. Anyway, that’s from my scattered preliminary reading and testimonies. Your video was the first I saw on this topic. Wish me luck on my future endeavor, which will be a vlog done in European Portuguese.

@@Lystra1000 I have found Dr. Karl Watson from Barbados to be a treasure trove of information on the Jewish (Portuguese) migration to the Caribbean. 1492 was a pivotal year. Not only did Columbus land in the Caribbean but that was the year that Jews were expelled from Portugal/Spain. From that time to 1796 (when Abercomby defeated Chacon) Trinidad was a backwater Spanish possession, and so the same persecution that many folks would have experienced in Spain/Portugal they would have experienced there as well. This is why I believe that after the Portuguese took over Brazil, many moved to the Poomeroons in Guyana and to Barbados after they had settled in Recife for many years. Good luck with your future endeavours. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d16cc6GQidh1kKM
