What is the price of a suitable turbomolecular pump to be used for vacuuming a chamber to aluminizing telescope mirror?
@gianlucarando5124 Жыл бұрын
More than whatever is affordable for you.
@perspectivex Жыл бұрын
Some people have found functional turbomolecular pumps with controllers that could be used for such a purpose as aluminizing mirrors for a couple hundred bucks (in the US and with extensive manual and automated searching and patience, looking for I would guess over a year or more). In Europe probably double or triple that. If you didn’t want to search and wait and just buy one used for the typical price, you could probably find one, with controller, for 1.5-2.5k$ fairly easily. Or use a diffusion pump which you can probably find used for $100-400.

Thank John for sharing this interesting video about CIRAS-3 Device,. I am working with desert plants that have very small (few mm) leaves. Can we use CIRAS-3 Device with such tiny leaves?
@johnmorrisscientific2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ali - yes you can... you might consider a canopy style device for this application - or a cuvette designed for conifer leaves in your application.

What is the bearing (if that's the right name) shown at 0:37? I don't understand how the molecules getting caught between that and the engravings in the animation translates to real life; those engravings should be smaller than the size of machining signs on the inner surface of the envelope. (I'm note a native English speaker I hope you understand)

Only problem is that it raises the lid during fitment creating a rattle which in-turn can make the lid bounce and cause an accident and/or injury.

what you said @1:50 doesn't make sense. In repetitive mode you *aspirate* a large volume and *dispense* smaller volumes (from that larger volume) across the plate. For instance you can *aspirate* 1.2mL and dispense 100ul across 12 wells on the plate.
@johnmorrisscientific3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rob - thank you for your comment. The REPETITIVE Mode allows you to distribute the same volume repeatedly in a predefined number (N) of equal aliquots. You supply the aliquot volume (AV) and the pipette automatically calculates the number of aliquots possible from the nominal (maximum) volume (NV) of the pipette, as follows: N = NV/AV (e.g., 120 μL x 10 for P1200M). You can find more about this feature at: www.gilson.com/pub/media/docs/2019_LT801594_E_Pipetman_M_connected_UG_web.pdf - go to page 8.

@@johnmorrisscientific In the video you say "you can suck up one volume and *aspirate* the exact same smaller volume or aliquot across multiple wells." "Aspirate" means to "suck up" "Dispense" means to "aliquot" Saying You "suck up" and then "aspirate" is doing the same thing.
