Hey good meeting you earlier this evening and i can’t believe i didn’t make the connection a few weeks back. After you left, i ended up with one dink perch followed by one about 15” (fun fight on 6lb mono/4lb flour) and another just under 14” (both on sand crabs)…and my first (finally) yellow fin croaker (about 12”) on a gulp sandworm -R ( the guy in the blue sitka jacket)

So glad you made your way to the channel! Pleasure meeting you. Way to go! 14” is solid. I’ll have to make my way down there. See you around!

I think those are called Zebra perch. They are actually a type of chub, and are very closely related to the ones I target sometimes in HI. Call them Nenue over there. They are lb for lb very good fighters, and are actually pretty good eating with a mild, fairly firm meat.
@BananaBoyFishing25 күн бұрын
Seems like they’re primarily herbivorous as well. That’s very neat, thank you for sharing!
@ChiefToad25 күн бұрын
@@BananaBoyFishing Ya, the primo bait for them is fresh picked seaweed. Though they will also go for dough bait and shrimp.
@BananaBoyFishing24 күн бұрын
@@ChiefToad I'll have to give similar tactics a try next time I find a large population of them.

@@cali_cal you can park on the otherside and walk for 15 min or pay for the day. You can also purchase a state beach pass that works at all state beaches (including this one) for 365 days from purchase

That looked like a Floridian sheeps head . How did you get to that spot ?
@BananaBoyFishingАй бұрын
This technique could be used in any harbor/bay. I recommend using a combination of two apps: google maps to find new spots and Fishlegal to make certain if you're allowed to fish there or not and to learn the exact regulations in that spot.

Bro, I found the spot, so if I fish there and keep, will I get in trouble, or is that spot not considered a protected area
@TheCrookedEАй бұрын
Have never caught fish with a cherry berry because I keep on losing them. On my 4th or 5th one. This is a cool spot you found.👍
@BananaBoyFishingАй бұрын
That’s an expensive habit. Try using flash minnows and other floating jerkbaits in river mouths and harbors that have snags. Keep the sinking baits to the sandy surf where there’s less snags

Tip for you. Keep orange peel w you put small piece on sand crabs that don’t have eggs. The orange peel looks like egg sack and gets bit a lot more. I been using this trick for 40 years!
