Surprised it didnt have the little ship that goes in Tranzor Zs head. Thats what activated him.

I remember watching Tranzor Z back in the day as a kid on WDCA 20.

I had one as a kid that i got for christmas from Toys R Us when i was 8 years old. Wanted something different from Voltron since everyone had those toys. Couldnt remember the name until recently. Great review.

I never knew about the starbase until recently. We definitely didn't have one when my brother and I each got a set for Christmas in 1987 or 88. But we each got a hat as well as the regular censor. My brother had the cap and I got the helmet. We definitely had a lot of fun with them.

I was eight years old in 1960 and had an original Mr. Machine toy.

I picked up a mostly complete v crest for 5 dollars about a week ago!

I have a golion or voltron I'm not 100% sure. I bought this new when I was a kid back in the earl 80's, The blue lion has a yellow tail and all lions have sharp teeth. There are no decals on the underside, I may have peeled them I can't remember. All the launchers are intact and I have all the weapons minus the yellow missles. Just trying to find out which one I have. The belt has a star and the chest shield has the cross and the faceshield is blue. The green and red lions have grey joints and tails. Let me know if you have any idea. I can send pics.

Ive been trying to figure out now wich voltron i had when i was a kid and i thought it might be this one but i guess im wrong the only thing i remember very well that i was happy cus it was die cast but i was upset because it came with no sword or spinning sword/shield!!! also the heads kept flying off all the time my parents got it for me on christmas at pic n save at the time damn its been a while those stores dont even exist anymore later on i managed to by the sword and shield pack at a freaken 99cts store out of all places n i had it complete till my cousin snapped red lion leaving tail piece stuck inside after that i was all into turtles and then power rangers and hasbro WWF figs man i wish i knew whatever happened to my voltron 😢

I grew up in old NYC. in 1977 there was a store on 59th and 5th that sold popnica and bull mark well as the Chinatown stores. For books the was Zen Oriental bookstore for all ones Manga and Roman album needs. There was also a Japanese toy store on 33rd and 2nd Ave I remember going to in 1980 where my friend got a Japanese microman figure along with a vehicle called the Bongo-2. I will check out this article but the information is not correct. The Forbidden Planet was absolutely awesome I brought the macross VHS from the store when it was a huge space on 14th and Broadway, unfortunately due to gentrification it is a shadow of its former self. I miss my old NYC it gave me so much, now it’s just hipster central U.S.A. I still have the Japanese action figures I grew up with box and all.

The newer one that you have “ whistles” a certain tune….. and do you know what that tune is? The tune is This Old Man! None of my family members could not recognize it but listen closely and you can make it out.😊

There was something so magical about doing to that one special shopping mall that would have a toy shop that carried Godaikin. They were not available just everywhere so it gave the Godaikin toys an almost mythical quality. When Voltron aired and I went to the Brea mall and saw the toy blew my mind. This was the Korean knock off "Lionbot" which beautiful. Happy memories

I was 5 when I got the original in 1960 for Christmas. Loved it. It was one of my favorite toys to play with.

I had the original made in 1960. Got it for Christmas that year when I was eight years old. Loved taking it apart. The model being shown in this video doesn't hold a candle to the original, which had a big chromed bell on his chest that clanged as he walked. (this could be removed with a single nut if mom had a headache) The key was a much larger key made of metal and also chromed. The small blue fixed wheel in the back of this one was yellow on mine with a small knob that you could set the wheel so he'd turn in small or large circles. There was no whistler. Instead, the mouth would open slowly and then when it suddenly closed it sounded something like the sound a crow would make. It was actually a small party noise maker that made the sound. The gears ran very quietly, not like this noisy thing.

As a huge fan of Japanese culture, and anime etc, I found this video endlessly fascinating. I always respected Transformers, Voltron, (and Zoids,) as that early taste of Japan in those early days when Japanese media was not nearly as accessible. (That changed quickly after Nintendo's NES hit of course.) I knew that Shogun Warriors and Diaclone had a brief run here, but I didn't know about Godaiken. Thanks for the history lesson!

It was a 19 year old man that got shot to death. Laser tag was not only for kids. A lot of adults back then use to play with these and would set up mini tournaments.

I had the black one growing up and it broke in that spot. Felt so bad. I’m glad you pointed out it seems it was common. I am thinking of buying just the black one for nostalgia and love.
