Way too confusing. Complicated. And definitely food grade CO2 should be priority.. who knows what can be in them 🤔

Unless that large tank has a dip tube, you're not putting liquid C02 into the smaller 20 oz. Tank f y I

For me the best solution is to use dry ice pellets that goes through the cartridges and you just use a food scale and put 410g of ice. Super easy and dry ice mostly are food grade and safe. A bag of 5lbs is around $9 and it fills 4 to 5 cartridges. Best deal

No need for the paintball tank or soda stream! Just need the big tank with regulator, a "carbonation cap" and 2 liter bottles.

Nice video! Is there a SodaStream that uses the same glass bottles a the AquaFizz (don't want to use plastic bottles) ? We have lots of glass bottles left over from an old AquaFizz?

I don't think the CO2 for paintball is beverage grade CO2.

I've tried this before and seems that we blow out the gasket/O-ring on the Sodastream due to too much CO2/pressure coming into the Sodastream. Is this something you've dealt with? Thinking a regulator on the CO2 tank could help if so. Thanks! Great vid!
@davidt16212 ай бұрын
Just use a cheap little Co2 paintball compressor to refill your paintball Co2 tank at home whenever you need more air. You don't even have to use an automatic electric one, because there are hand pumps that will fill it these days too. That tank you have looks like a 4500psi tank. You could fill it in 5 minutes flat with a hand pump dude.

you can also unscrew the top of the empty bottle and add 410g of dry ice (frozen c02) and refit the top. let it warm to room temperature so it returns to a gas state

Four years later, are you still using this? Any updates? This really piqued my curiosity! I've been using a soda siphon with little CO2 chargers. It's... ok. A setup like yours could be next for me.

Seen this in another video. Apparently the new ettera you can get an adapter to plug directly into the soda stream from a 5lb tank. But does anyone know if that’s safe. Don’t want to have a machine blow up in my face at some point

You can exchange the used Sodastream CO2 tanks for discounts on the fresh ones knocking the price down by almost half. Research numbnuts. Don't use random CO2 tanks unless you know they're food grade. SERIOUSLY research numbnuts. Don't take this guy's advice ever!!
@jojag54 ай бұрын
$17 to refill CO2 tanks. Even if you drink a litre of seltzer every day, that's only $17 every 6 weeks or so. There is literally no need to buy this whole setup. It'll take years before you actually make your money back, and it's so much less convenient. Also DIY methods like this usually don't use food grade equipment. If you're going to invest $100 into seltzer water, get a water filter/purifier. Tastes and works better than standard tap water.

I live in Los Angeles, and it's 2024, and did some research. To exchange the sodastream take at Target or Walmart is $16.50 with tax $18. 5lb. tank and valve on Amazon is about 100 to $150. The hardest part was where to get the tank filled and found a paint gun shop and tropical fish store to fill the 5lb cost at $45. Not sure what is most economical now. Might have to go back to Costco's Kirkland selzer 35 count for $18!?!?

Any place that sells soda stream will exchange the empty bottle for another one for a lot cheaper. Just like you would with a propane tank. You don't have to buy a new one.
