Spencer’s was never in Midland Mall. Thingsville was in Midlands Mall. Also opened one in Mall of the Bluffs when that mall was built.

Sears thank God still had the same foot print as it did in 1975 when I left Omaha. Still as it looked in 1960 except added floors and the sawtooth roof line in the mall and floor tiles as well the same as day one. Good bye old friend, my Crossroads years were from 1963 till 1975.

Update: this mall is set to be demolished soon, per local TV station WOWT on April 7, 2020. The tenant businesses were given 30 days to vacate, but at least the managers were courteous enough to give the notice in person: www.wowt.com/content/news/Crossroads-Mall-to-be-demolished-tenants-have-30-days-to-move-569460191.html A local game developer who appears to have their offices in this mall (see 11:59 on the left) has a nice arieal shot of the mall on the contact page on their website: www.skyvu.net/contact

So many memories in this place. It's sad to see it go but its better than seeing it empty for so long. Now we can remember it for what it used to be.

Unfortunately I was too young to experience the Midlands Mall before it was converted. I used to love walking around the Omni Center before and after seeing a movie there. At the time I didn't understand why there wasn't places to eat and shop at. You did a great job of capturing the simple beauty this mall still has.

There was never a Spencer's Gifts at Midlands Mall. It was a place called "Thingsville" which was similar.

The white plastic covers along the bottom of the escalators near your feet actually lit up but they turned it off. If they turned on all the lights in that mall it would be beautiful.

That play area was awesome like 12 years ago. So was judging the people that walked into HotTopic from our tables at the food court. So was going to gamestop just to look at the new games or get Pokémon events Or going to sports authority RIP mall of the bluffs. It was all downhill since Target left.

This used to be a very busy place in 50's and 60's, it even had a grocery store for years also besides a bowling alley. It is like a ghost town now but there are still renters. Omaha grew so much that malls like this are becoming dinosaurs. Sad but still a part of Omaha's history.

I worked at this Sears almost four years, from 2008-2012. I managed the footwear department. I noticed they still had the same workboot display fixtures that were new back when I worked there (2009 is when we got them, if I recall correctly). Anyway -- I didn't get out there for the final liquidation sales or last day open for business, so this was kind of like my last walk-through. Thank you for this.
